There have been several reports on these forums of Sky Glass TVs failing soon after the 2 year warranty expires. This is likely bad luck more than anything but when paying hundreds of pounds for a TV, a device likely to be used daily in most households, I'd always recommend buying a smart TV from a retailer like John Lewis or Richer Sounds. Both these retailers offer 5 or 6 year warranties for free. You can add a Sky Stream puck to any smart TV for the same streaming TV experience that you get with Glass.
If you really want Sky Glass than you can pay extra for Sky Protect insurance.

The longest serving Glass televisions outside Sky have had thirty months of run-time (release was in October 2021), so that's essentially impossible to say.
While some reports of failure just outside warranty have been posted in this forum, without knowing the actual sales figures it's not particularly useful data: given Glass has apparently sold in (surprisingly) large numbers those posts almost certainly represent a tiny percentage.
Only Sky has an accurate view of failure rates and causes, and like all other manufacturers they don't publish that information. It's inherent to the nature of support forums to give a somewhat distorted perspective.

Hi @Coventry1
Sky guarantee software updates for 8 years and spare parts availability for 7 according to the product specifications on the Glass website: https://static.skyassets.com/contentstack/assets/bltff3fe8a60eb589eb/blt4e94e61515a18e46/63237139fac...
However as you have pointed out they are sold with a two year warranty: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/warranty-sky-glass
Also worth noting that spare parts / repairs through their repair partner ServiceTech doesn't cover the TV panel itself. If there is a fault with this the unit will need replacing, at a cost outside of warranty. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-tv-repairs#:~:text=ServiceTech%20are%20the%20official%20...

Cost of repair would be dependant on the nature of the work required. Panel replacement isn't economically viable.
Home insurance typically won't cover such things: in some cases it might be available as an add-on by paying a subscription premium.
Sky Protect Device Insurance is available for Glass televisions.

Hi, ours lasted 2 days after the warranty ran out. Funny that. 2 years and 2 days. To get the set to switch on you have to do a full factory reset. I'll never buy a set from Sky again.

2 weeks after warranty has expired and it's no longer turning on.
