The workaround was for large manufacturers / suppliers to contribute towards the cost of local authority waste reception sites. It would be utterly impractical for them to pay courier fees relating to customers return of large items for recycling unless that's alongside a new order.

Re: How to dispose of a Sky Glass TV
Just as a note to this, Sky's delivery partner lets you add "TV Recycling" to your delivery. When you place your Sky Glass order, you'll get a link to a tracking page from AIT Home Delivery, on this page you are able to select add-ons, including "TV Recycling". It's £15 so not a great deal, but just to let people know the option is there.

Re: How to dispose of a Sky Glass TV
As I mentioned in the glass 2 thread the best go of recycling is to keep the unit working. Rather than pay to scrap it sell or gift it on .... seems a waste to recycle a working tv

Re: How to dispose of a Sky Glass TV
Does anyone know, when you factory reset and get rid of the TV (sell or recycle), will it be removed from my account. (This Gen 1 TV is currently the "Primary Device" on my account and, obviosuly, I'll want that to be the Gen 2 instead when it get here.

Re: How to dispose of a Sky Glass TV
Take it to your local tip, to be honest that's where all Sky Glass TV's belong, 3 years of constant hassle. And I don't think it's going to get any better with Glass 2.
Part of the problem is Sky can't help themselves but to push new features to it every couple of months, every 6-8 weeks there is something new. Why on earth Sky can't just do a big update every 6 months is beyond me, and fix bugs in between.
Is just seems Glass in which ever form is in a broken state to varying degrees, and folk are simply to invested to just discard it. And mark my words, give it 2-3 years Sky will stop supporting Glass 1 and if folk don't upgrade the only option will be to connect a puck to it, at which point I will put a sledgehammer to mine and dump it at the tip where it truly belongs.
This lip-sync issue has destroyed any confidence in a product other than set-top boxes made by Sky.
