How functional is it without a Sky subscription?
Hello all.
My 43" Glass may or may not be retiring soon.
It really depends on what negotiation I can get as I'm at the end of my contract obligations.
My broadband is going up from £21 to £58! (Or £53 if I commit to contract) Which isn't acceptable.
Therefore if I added another hdmi streaming device and didn't resubscribe to my channels through Glass- how functional is it?
I know it can go through a TV aerial but in the brief time that happened it looked woeful.
I really wish I could tell if Glass 2 is on the horizon or not, but above all, a fair price for an existing subscriber would have been a given- apparently not- unless I get a new one..(glass TV)
I was thinking a Virgin stream box attached to it or at least using their broadband through it.
Thanks

Re: How functional is it without a Sky subscription?
The short answer is 'not very.'
Without a Sky streaming TV subscription you can still access the third party apps and stream content on demand from them but you won't have any access to live channel streams via the EPG.
If you treat the Glass TV as a big dumb monitor with a soundbar attached then that's usually the best idea. Connecting a Virgin Stream box via HDMI will give you a full streaming TV experience with its own EPG and apps without having to bother with any of Sky's.

Hi @Anonymous
In addition to the advice already given by @Padam_Padam, see the official guide from Sky: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription
However it doesn't work like a normal TV and I take exception with that wording. As already stated you will loose access to TV guide and have to turn internet off to access aerial mode.
