Hello,
Aware that Sky Stream doesn't support HDR10+ as we speak, it does support HLG, HDR and Dolby Vision.
I'm not asking for HLG content support to become HDR10+, I'm asking content from Apple TV+, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video that currently support HDR10+ to be added to Stream as it's perfectly capable of doing so.
Doing this would make me switch from Smart TV Apps (samsung) to 100% Sky Stream as when I need to watch Apple TV+, YouTube and Prime I swtich to TV built in apps as they provide HDR10+.
Something to think about Sky, end of the day, market leaders should lead by example, for a premium product you guys need to always be on top of what's out there.
Looking forward to get this on next SW update. Thanks 😉

Thanks,

It's a paid TV service, and it's designed to be premium compared to little cousin NOW.
Gives you access to the "best" of Sky.
But that's your opinion, I respect that 🙂

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rapmo there is a format war between Dolby Vision and HDR10+ which unfortunately it looks lke Dolby are winning.
Samsung are really alone in championing HDR10+ against Sony, LG and other TV mskers who offer Dolby Vision which has a considerable marketing budget behind it and hence brand recognition. Whether one format is better than another is pretty irrelevant as its down to the marketing where Dolby will inevitably dominate over the open standard.
Sky like most broadcasters have chosen HLG as their HDR format but have have bought a chip set with a Dolby Vision licence so I think its unlikely they will ever support HDR10+.even if the Dolby Vision licence terms would permit them to do so.

@Tim+Adams you wouldn't describe any stream as a premium product ? What is then ? The full price of stream with sports movies bt sport etc is well over £100 per month. Of course sky stream is a premium product. The poster is quite right, now tv is the budget version of sky. Ridiculous saying that stream isn't premium

Sky not any *

Was talking hardware and feature wise, not talking about subscription.

Hi,
comcast the mother adopted HDR10+
The hardware is compatible just needs software unlocking no new hardware needed.
Samsung isn't alone on this, Panasonic, Philips, Vizio even Apple and many other brands joined the party as it's free to use.
from streaming Apple TV+, Paramount (us), LIONSGATE (us), YouTube and Prime and many others outside UK already doing HDR10+
Samsung on its own dominates the TV market for over a decade.
with that said, I appreciate your answer and time but it's just not realistic.
we need to stop this nonsense of "it is what it is" and just accept that there's different options out there, and Sky being a big Media business focused on entertainment needs to be top notch with all formats.

I hear you, it's premium on the sense that UI organises all for you and updates your recommendations.
same as Sky+HD was the premium, then replaced with Q and now the new boy in town Stream (for those that have great TVs and Glass would be a downgrade)

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere's no real reason for Sky to add HDR10+ support - most TVs which support it properly (have sufficient dynamic brightness) also support Dolby Vision, which is supported already by virtually all the third party apps.

That's based on your opinion!
Even Apple realised that adding HDR10+ support was an act of respect and inclusion.
it's not about who's best, it's all about customer and making sure everyone is pleased
HDR10+ costs nothing to add as it's open source and not as mentioned before, it doesn't need Dolby permission, Dolby only cares about their $3 fee

They also do insurance now. That's really entertaining.
HDR10+ is about as low on Sky's priority list as you can get. You'll be waiting a looooong time for it on the current cheap'n'cheerful hardware.
Sky is mass market. It's all about quantity not quality. Keep it simple & churn it out. If you asked a random sample of Sky customers what HDR10+ was, the vast majority wouldn't have a scooby.
It ain't gonna happen. Sorry.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSorry for being a bit off topic but I have to thank @rapmo for starting this discussion and highlighting HDR10+ on Prime (I don't have Apple TV - or for that matter anything Apple)
I was unaware of how much HDR10+ was on Prime
I have a firetsick 4K Max routed through an AV Amp to my HDR 10+ & DV capable TV & didn't ever recall seeing HDR10+ content - DV yes , HDR 10 yes of course but not HDR10+
So after researching HDR10+ on Prime I realised that some series I have watched proabably were /are available in HDR10+
Guess what my (now few years old) AV receiver isn't passing through HDR10+ & plugging the Firestick direct to TV kicks in the HDR10+
I guess I will be leaving it plugged into the TV and relying on ARC for the sound in future
So thanks again for highlightig HDR10+ and making me realise this limitation of my AV receiver

Prime Video have been big on HDR10+ for several years. They did some sort of deal with Samsung (who have never had Dolby Vision on their TVs) so that the Prime app on Samsung TVs would offer it. They also made it the key HDR format on their FireTV devices. It's only the last year or so that they've started offering a bit more Dolby Vision with the launch of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and the latest Jack Ryan series.
The Rakuten app on Samsung TVs would offer some streamed HDR movies in HDR10+ too.
My Pioneer AVR doesn't support HDR10+ passthrough either - it seems to be the least supported HDR format in that respect. It passes Dolby Vision fine.
The latest generation of Apple TV 4K boxes introduced HDR10+ compatibility too. Most recent iTunes movie content can offer it if the box is connected to a TV without Dolby Vision.
