Gen 2 distorted sound from top speakers
Does anyone else with Gen 2 feel that spoken dialogue (particularly s and p sounds with softer voices) have a sort of echo effect? It sounds worse when I get up and walk past the side of the TV and hear distorted sounds coming from the top speaker grills. First of all, should any sound be coming from the top speakers with Dolby Digital standard output. I'm talking most content/channels and not Dolby Atmos/Vision as when in that mode, the top firing speakers only come into action when needed. I've asked this question on a previous post and no one gave me an answer. I'd like to know if I have a faulty set or is it normal to hear distorted/muffled sound coming from the top speakers with playback of non Dolby Atmos content, so basically the majority of content and live TV. I can't say I ever noticed this on the gen 1 and I've read a couple of times it could just be poor audio mixing. What’s leading me to believe it is across the board is that I don't get the same distorted background echo when Atmos is at play. I actually think the TV would sound better without sound from the top speakers because you just hear squeaky voices through the top speakers, it's not adding any dimension at all but just creating a weird echo. Apart from this, the sound overall doesn't sound too bad but some voices (female, softer voices have no real punch/depth/clarity) and I've tried all settings. All of the settings make only very subtle differences anyway. Hardly noticeable changes in fact.

Yes! That was also my experience of gen2 Glass. I sent it back after a couple of days. Just not good enough.

Re: Gen 2 distorted sound from top speakers
One reply can only mean people with Gen 2 are brushing this under the carpet. Can anyone please answer my question? Can you or can you not hear distorted sounds through the top speakers of the TV when viewing standard Dolby content? That's all
I want to know, so for arguments sake, put on a live main TV channel 1-5 and tell me what sounds you can hear from the top speakers. Squeaky voice echo? I'd like to determine if it's worth pursuing a new TV under warranty. Although with previous experience with the Gen 1, I'm not sure if it's worth all the hassle.
Everyone check out 'Review Box' YouTube channel as he has extensively reviewed his experience with the Gen 2 and it would appear that each TV he's had (4 so far of the Gen 2) has had problems. This would strongly suggest that the quality control is just not good enough. I too had 4 of the Gen 1 in the space of 16 months. Every TV should be exactly the same!

Re: Gen 2 distorted sound from top speakers
Yes, there was a thread on this previously as well. I had the same problem – especially noticeable on sports when you have an audience and the crowd sounds come through the top speaker all crackly. I spoke to Sky about it and they replaced the TV, and I have the same thing with this one as well (although not as bad) – I'm hoping it's a software thing.

Re: Gen 2 distorted sound from top speakers
I can't believe how each TV can
be so different with Glass. There's no consistency. That's why I'm reluctant to replace. I know it will be luck of the draw if the replacement will be better or worse and my neighbours will be thinking, "Is he really getting another TV delivered again?" From previous replacements of the Gen 1, it's a tiresome process and I was told that replacements are always refurbished (albeit grade A refurbishments) Probably less chance with Gen 2 as it's still a new product. Hoping it is software and gets better with an update. consistency needs to be much better, who is testing these TV's?

Who's testing them? Sky employees mainly, so not exactly technology experts.
Sky Glass Air is currently out in the wild being tested by some of them.
