Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ChrisC29 So it wasn't just me. I had no problems with Glass during the F1 qualifying except for the RW/FF which was to say the least temperamental. If I wanted to go back a few seconds to listen to commentary I missed the programme would jump back a couple of minutes, likewise trying to run through the adverts it was jumping all over the place.
I found I had more success with voice commands, i.e. back 20 seconds, forward 3 minutes etc. Give it a try 😀

Good shout, I'll give that a try for the race later 👍

I'm at the point where I'm thinking do I cancel this and get sky Q or ride it out. I like the service and so long as the racing is available for me to watch whenever I'm ready to watch it I won't have major issues, but they really need to identify and fix the fast forwarding / rewinding. I can't work out if they are purposely preventing me from being able to do it or is it just a technical glitch.

Live picture quality F1 UHD on a QD-OLED via Sky Stream was stunning so kudos for that.
FF and RW sends the stream box into a real workout though.

Summary for this weekend (for me, no active UHD sub)
Formula 1 - All sessions available within 10 minutes of the session end - more often than not still recording 5 minutes after session end so at no point was it unavailable to watch 👍.. i.e. worked as promised and expected.
Formula 2 - tl;dr; need to wait 9,5 hours after the session end to watch it.
Practice - Took somewhere between 6,5 and 9,5 hours to appear
Qualy - Took somewhere between 4,5 and 5,5 hours to appear
Sprint - Took somewhere between 5,5 and 7,5 hours to appear
Feature - Took somewhere between 7,5 and 9,5 hours to appear
(i.e. they weren't available at the first time, but were by the second) 😢
The extra screens are also useful, but about 15 - 20 seconds behind glass making them less than brilliant - but their addition is welcome - annoyingly not even in sync with one another though. At least I can continue to get Glass and the F1 live timing in sync by pausing the latter. The Red button even worked on Stream when I was playing with it during FP2 (last time I tried it crashed my box!).. Is it a bit OTT to get another Stream or two to setup next to the main TV? 😂
PQ during FP1 was a bit sketchy, but since then has been upto the usual, excellent, standards.

After the painfulness of last season when you never knew how it was gonna be, I was nervous.
I cancelled sky sports and UHD over the winter.
Started Sky sports again last Sunday. Forgoing UHD for now.
Yesterday I had to take a long call in the middle of qualy. When I got off my call, at just before 6, it was all there ready to watch.
Today the race worked well, the red button features were decent, and the race appeared soon after.
And, joy of joys, the programmes in playlist in 'live formula 1' seem to be appearing in reverse order, so that the most recent one is first in line. This will be a blessing later in the season, compared to last year, when you had to scroll past approximately 100 shows to get to the most recent one.
I mean it does point further to the fact that last year us early adopters were all guinea pigs putting up with an experimental service, but hey. I'll take it. If they can keep this up!
Next thing to watch for will be what happens when a session overruns. Cos that day is coming, and they haven't had that one right yet! I wait...

Quali seemed way recording for well over 45 mins after it finished. Not sure if that's just in case it over runs.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreF1 coverage was pretty flawless with the cloud recording enabled allowing pretty much instant anytime playback.
Sky still have the issue of what happens when shows overrun, now there was no reason for Sky's coverage to overrun but the post show did and in turn that delayed Ted's Notebook which very bizarrely went to adverts half way through and never came back as they were showing the repeat of the race.
Indycar cloud recording too which is great.
F2, F3 is still a watch live only thing. Now it could rights issues with why they can't do cloud recording or making it available sooner but it is extremely poor for us that follow it and want to watch the weekend in order and Sky need to get it resolved along with all other sports they broadcast.
Thanks,
Tim
