Drawback of using catch-up services instead of recording

When a programme is added to the playlist - for example, something on BBC1 which is broadcast with 5.1 sound - because the playlist links to iPlayer, only 2.0 sound is available.

Perhaps Sky could arrange with the BBC to allow 'recording' of the programmes as they do their own shows on Sky channels.

It is a shame to have a nice picture with let-down sound.

@DPL1981  Glass/Stream doesn't record in any form, non sky channels need to use the broadcasters relevant on-demand/catchup service.

I know.  It it does 'record' (in inverted commas) to the cloud for Sky channels, and some others. But for BBC (and itv etc) it links to the player.

@DPL1981 that's how it's supposed to work, the broadcasters want you to use there own on demand services

you need to be asking them (BBC , ITV ETC)  to upload the corrected version of sound to the players

This is one of the main reasons I don't use playlist and still record flagship drama series from the main free-to-air channels using my Manhattan T3-R Freeview HD recorder.

The Freeview EPG even shows which programmes are broadcast with 5.1 audio so you can set them to record in advance. Very handy.

It's a standard PVR, connects via HDMI to any TV or a Glass unit. Image quality is better than Stream on the main HD free-to-air channels.

Does Freeview get ITV 2-ITV 4 HD these days honest question as that has been nice on Stream.
