Use a Blu-ray player, ideally a 4K unit but HD is still pretty good.
Even the cheapest Blu-ray player from Argos is hugely better than a DVD player.

If you want a high quality viewing experience.... why did buy the cheapest possible SD device for connection to an UHD TV?
It's time to replace that DVD collection with Blu-ray😉

in most cases a blu ray player will upscale the dvds so they a look a little sharper ....

That only be the case if the upscaler in the player is better than that in the TV😉
Many high quality TVs will be better than blu-ray players🤔

Which TVs do anyway and usually better if it is a good quality TV😉
The OP also wants best possible quality which can not be supplied by DVD😁
