Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

You can now delete shows in the 'Playlist' by going to 'Manage All' (via the playlist). My question is: Can you now delete from the 'Continue Watching' section as if you watch something for the first time and decide it's not for you, you can't delete it from Continue Watching!

@Daddymae Removing unwanted programmes from the Continue Watching rail is my biggest complaint with Glass / Stream.  There are different ways to remove items depending on what you are trying to remove.  Some need to be done on your laptop and others on Sky stream. Some just don't seem to removable and /or keep reappearing every time a new episode records (Ch4 is very bad for this).

In order to remind me how to remove items (or at least try) I made myself a list which I will post below in the hope it will help you:

Do on Glass TV:

Apple TV - select from Up Next list with a LONG press / remove

Netflix - Select from CW / remove from CW on next page

Sky, Discovery, ITVX & Disney - run programme to credits and allow to run to the end.  If a series do the same with the final episode of the series.  (It may take a while to disappear)

Do on laptop:

BBC iPlayer  - CW / Manage full list (on right of screen) / remove

All 4 - My4 / CW - go to My4 > / edit / select then remove

Paramount  - CW / edit (right of screen) / delete

Hi @Daddymae

Manage all has been around for a while now but unfortunately still no simple way of removing things from continue watching.

Thanks,

Tim

I never look at continue watching as it contains so much junk that I have watched for a few minutes and abandoned, unfortunately Sky also uses this info  for recommendations so if you look at junk you get recommendations for more junk.

Being able to delete would be useful, perhaps even only to show on continue watching if you watch for more than 10 minutes would work.

Re: Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

Is nobody from Sky going to provide an update as to when this issue will be resolved and there is a proper way of managing the CW list? Its evident from the postings and questions on the Internet that this is actually something that Sky Stream customers want and need (without fast forwarding through an entire season, particularly when this doesn't always work)

@DDD707  Don't hold your breath.

Generally you don't need to run through every episode in a series just the episode you are watching and then the last episode of the series.  Mind you I have on occasions had to run through each episode 😫

The. whole issue is so frustrating.

Re: Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

Many thanks for the advice shared. @Fothergill1 and @Jporch316 .

I still find it very disappointing that Sky don't listen to their customers and don't see optimising customer experience as a priority and don't realise that 'smnall things matter' when customers have a choice.

Hey ho, perhaps I'm the one at fault for not excersing my option to chose provider

@DDD707

The continue watching issues have been raised numerous times by superusers .... I believe it's quite a complicated function as it's drawing meta data not just from sky servers but also the plethora of other catchup services.

Re: Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

Many thanks @Jporch316. I totally get the messaging Sky are saying that is complicated and metadata, however is it really?

If its because its linked to the other apps, e.g iPlayer, surely if I removed it from CW on the parent (iplayer) it wouldn't appear in my Sky Stream CW list. Surely there is easier functionality that could be added to the Sky User Interface, like Netflix, iPlayer etc that will allow the user to hide or remove? (After all its just a link)

The removing it from your iplayer continue watching can get a bit more complicated as the continue watching rail on the sky UI seeming covers shows you have watched from the sky device so if you went and watched episode one of a new show on iplayer via a phone or tablet it wouldn't be recognised on the sky continue watching rail.

I would certainly think sky could offer a hide functionality on their UI for shows on the continue watching rail and that is metadata being used purely for the Sky UI. Some sort of simple flagging mechanism could be used for it to k ow

Re: Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

This has helped thank you but some ITVx shows/films just won't go no matter what you do.

@Dords even with my how to do it list it can still be hit and miss.  The only saving grace is if you leave them long enough they will eventually drop off the end of the CW rail.  The whole process is very frustrating.

I've yet to figure out how or why, but i've actually had 1 ITV X show, disappear from my CW rail, despite the fact i haven't done the trick of playing the current and last episode to make it disappear.

Re: Continue Watching feature (can't remove)

@MarkGoldsmith totally agree, however had some success, and it took many times and some luck to get it to work. It seems to work if you fast forward on the last episode until just after the last adverts and then let it run until the end (remembering to catch it before it automatically starts playing another TV show). Sometimes it works if you fast forward 5 mins after the last episode and sometimes 10 mins.

Its a pain and probably shouldn't be wasting time on it, however its the small things or the lack of being able to  do what I would expect it to do (that works on other platforms) that niggle
