Thanks. Both devices are on the same ring main and the wiring on that ring main is not that old.

Re: Connecting to Sky Glass using an ethernet cable doesn’t seem to be that much better than over Wi

Hi,

interesting thread.

i have 500mb fibre and get about 200mb on Wi-Fi on Sky Glass Netflix but on Ethernet I only get 55mb.
Ethernet seems to restrict Sky Glass. Not sure why

router right next to TV so having it on Ethernet seems to be the right thing to do.

Having it on Ethernet does slow it down when fast forwarding a programme.

Ethernet port is restricted to a maximum 100mbs

if you are that close to the router I would run off wifi .......

Hi @Popsy3  The reason you are getting much lower speeds on Ethernet is that the Glass & pucks only have a 10/100 Ethernet port but this is more than sufficient.

I have 500mbps incoming from my ISP which generally gives me 375mbps on wi-fi at my Stream puck or 85mbps via Ethernet (tested via Netflix).  TBH I don't really notice any difference between wi-fi and Ethernet but as my apartment is hardwired for Ethernet to the lounge and bedroom I may as well use it.

It is, by having a 100baseT chipset on the mainboard rather than gigabit, but that's still about three times the maximum data rate required for UHD with HDR and more importantly isn't prone to the fluctuations inherent to WiFi.
