Connecting a soundbar

Are they any special things I need to know to connect a soundbar to a glass TV.

We had issues connecting our bluray player and I'm just wondering if it will be the same ?

I think I remember reading about hdmi arc does the soundbar need to have hdmi arc as an output or can it have just normal hdmi ?

Hi @slaters

HDMI 2 supports eARC. More information on ARC and eARC here: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/hdmi-arc-faq,news-26262.html.

There isn't any optical out connection on Sky Glass.

@slaters I recently connected a Yamaha soundbar to my Glass and it was very straightforward. No setting up required for the soundbar - it worked 'out of the box'. You just need to change the Glass's sound output for the result you want. The only minor inconvenience is that the Glass's volume control doesn't control the soundbar. All round, a great result, though.

A soundbar with HDMI is likely to be ARC or eARC capable, but perhaps only on one HDMI port (if it has more than one)

For audio output from Glass, the connection needs to be between HDMI #2 on the television and the ARC HDMI on the soundbar.
