Have  you  put it hdmi  2 port on the back of the tv, the middle  one you may need to play with  your sound  settings  in the dvd player,

This is not quite correct.

HDMI 2 is the eARC port for use when you want to connect to an external sound device (AVR or soundbar) to send sound from Sky Glass.

For compatibility mode for older devices that you want to send audio to Sky Glass, you need to use HDMI port 3.

Why do the ports do different things? I've never seen that before with HDMI. Thanks.

Sky Glass

Devices that have a HDMI output

You can use any of the HDMI ports  on Sky Glass for connecting devices with a HDMI output.

HDMI 2 yes can be used for connecting to AV receiver or sound bar that has Arc or eArc

But you can still use this HDMI port 2 for any device that has HDMI output even if that device do not have  ARC or eARC function.

HDMI 3 yes has a setting on Sky Glass that can be enabled for older device compatibility but you only need to enable this if it's needed.

DVD/Blu-ray player sometimes have 2 seperate HDMI connections on back of the device  with one that provides both picture and sound and other that is sound output only.

Some DVD/Blu-ray player you might need to change sound format settings if you not getting sound on TV or change sound format settings in the TV
