Playlisting a film doesn't necessary record it. Cloud recordings are only taken where Sky legally hold the rights to take a recording otherwise the playlist will link to the film on any on-demand service the film is available on.
Open the film on your playlist, scroll down to Available Now and you will see additional buttons displayed to watch the film on other catch-up services should the film be available on them. For example there are films available on Sky Cinema, Paramount Plus and Netflix so when scrolling down to available now you would see the options to Watch on Netflix and Watch on Paramount Plus.
Typically the default will either be Sky Cinema or Sky Store when opening a film from your playlist.

Re: Charge for recorded films
It's worth checking around the various catch apps as the system does default to skyb store from a search
for example I searched for both candy cane lane and raiders of the lost ark and both pushed me towards sky cinema / store. I managed to find candy cane lane on prime (which I subscribe) and Indiana jones on iplayer (I think)

It's easy to see which apps the film is available on - open the film on your playlist and scroll down to available now. This will then display a Play on X button for each service the film is available on.

Within the first month you can cancel without giving any particular reason: after that it's a case of claiming under consumer protection legislation, and something 'not mentioned ' isn't a particularly strong argument
