Channel 4 player unusable because the soundtrack keeps playing in the background.

Had a similar intermittent issue before (December 2024) which went away but has now resurfaced in a slightly different form. It has rendered the Ch 4 player virtually unusable.

If we watch anything involving Ch 4 from our playlist then Glass usually takes us to the Ch 4 player.  It's fine to watch, then when we want to stop watching we exit from the show (using the back button - all the way to the main menu) - all is good.  We can then directly move to watch something else without any issues and exit to standby. But once the TV is turned back on we immediately hear the sound from the last Ch 4 program, even if it wasn't the last thing we watched.  The screen is black but sometimes a continued press of the 'Home' button will result in the menu page appearing but not always.  The remote control is otherwise unresponsive.  The only option is to reboot the TV.  I refresh the apps regularly, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

 

I'm just checking if this issue has become any more prevalent than the last time I raised it when it wasn't a commonly encountered problem.  I shall report it officially.
