Points to remember, and why I'm not considering SKY GLASS - at least for the foreseeable....

1. All in one devices are great, until something goes and the whole device has to be returned for repair.

2. My current Sony TV is far superior to the Sky Panel offering......no brainier in not opting for a downgrade.

3. Using my satellite dish I'm not continuously squeezing bandwidth from my internet service.

4. My SONY Soundbar costs more than the SKY Glass device and in visiting a relative who has Glass we have noticed the difference, I'm sticking with SONY for the moment.

In my opinion, a PUCK Device with 2/4 Tb Storage Capacity would have been very interesting if you don't mind continually using your Bandwidth. Pay attention to the current Industry Standard for HDMI Ports. Ergo:- 2 Game Consoles, Blu Ray Player, Soundbar and Sky Q/Puck is 2 devices too many without utilising a separate HDMI Switching Device. If you're going to make an all in one, then address these issues and come out with something desirable and not just utilitarian.

If you have decent broadband then Bandwidth is not relavent. 512mb or 1gb line as we have is no problem with multiple devices connected in the house plus sky stream - and we do eat through 1000s of gbs of data monthly with no drop outs, slow downs apart from the odd time virgin are running updates which usually happen in the early hours.

As @Mark39 said it's not the right product for you, but it's the right product for plenty of people who want that convinience of an all-in-one. It sounds like you're very happy with your setup, and the good news is you can keep using your setup.

I don't have a Sky Glass TV, because like you I prefer the standalone TV and I value OLED screens but I do have Stream and the use of bandwidth is not an issue at all with fast enough broadband. We can have multiple streams watching TV at a time and not feel any degration; admitedly it's more of an issue with slower internet but that's not going to be an issue for many people over the next few years as Fibre and 5G continues its rollout, and they're the people Sky Glass and Stream is great for.

It's not in the interest of the global media industry to have users retain content without ongoing subscription: the VCR/DVD/PVR era was something of an anomaly.

@AndrewF_UK  I agree 100%.  Whether or not to have Sky Q, Glass or Stream is purely subjective but I sold my Glass after 18 months and went for a Samsung OLED TV, Soundbar and Stream puck over a year ago.  I have never regretted this decision and still think my current setup has an outstanding picture quality.  I had a workman come into my sitting room a couple of months ago and he immediately said "Wow, what an incredible TV picture".  I recently regained the option of access to a communal satellite dish for Sky Q but have not even considered changing from Stream.

I think the current lip sync issue with Sky has highlighted the issue with streaming and why there is a need for some kind of storage even if it's only a few gigabytes of storage rather than terabytes of storage.

Even the F1 sprint race this morning the lip sync was out again during the driver interviews at the end of the race., Sky still can't yet get a hold of the issue. So the original poster is not wrong, Sky Streaming services are not yet ready and with Sky Q being withdrawn there is nowhere for current subscribers to go when issues can't be resolved.

Sky need to do better on their streaming offering, and the OP is correct, Sky have a long way to go to pull level with major manufacturers such as LG, Sony and Samsung.
