I don't really know how to describe this in technical terams, so I will just say what I think. I've had Sky Glass since October 2021 and to be honest, I'm not that impressed with it. The constant freezes, having to reboot etc. are still very annoying, but I'm stuck with it. The most irritating aspect is when there is a loud part of a movie, the audio 'flattens' - it's just not very loud. It's almost as if there's some setting that's permanently on which is designed not to annoy the neighbours. There's not very much you can actually change in the settings, but I've yet to find anything that cures this. Does anyone have any ideas, or is this just how it is by design?

The 'Night mode' is designed to do just that.
Night mode: Staying up late? Night mode will reduce the volume and extreme sounds.
Enhance speech quality: Struggling to hear what’s being said? Enhance speech quality will make it clearer.

Thanks for the suggestion. Both Night Mode and Enhanced Speech Quality are turned off.

Unfortunately it's always possible that you've got a duff speaker set (there were lots around back when Glass was released) or just that the 'Sonic Boomio' Sky promoted was massively exaggerated.

If you've got a dodgy sub-woofer, it could be that you're noticing the point at which the audio mix is intended to roll-off to it during the 'loud bits'.
