Re: ALLM causing lag spikes/screen jumps every 5 seconds

I'm assuming that this 5 seconds flicker can be fixed with a software update.

The reason I say this is because I can be playing for hours with it not happening.

If it was something to do with 120htz screen I would expect it to happen consistently every time you play.

Hope to see a fix asap. It's a bit of a joy killer having to restart the TV so often.

Yeah, it's definitely a software fix. If it wasn't, switching the TV on and off wouldn't resolve it.

Re: ALLM causing lag spikes/screen jumps every 5 seconds

Yeah that's the only flaw in my argument lol. Is is weird how a reset lets you okay without issue for hours & then simply opening the Xbox home page starts the issue again.

Maybe there is hope after all

Re: ALLM causing lag spikes/screen jumps every 5 seconds

Yeah, it could be the screen changing display modes or frequencies. Hence why it goes back to stuttering if you were to flick to the normal TV channels. It could be flicking between 50/60hz when going from the Xbox menu to being in game.

I suppose it's difficult to say without knowing what's going on in the background. Would help if there was a diagnostic tool that would overlay details of what's happening with the video settings when things are changed.

Thanks for adding to the list of potential workarounds.

I've just tried it and it did get rid of the stutter, however, this is because (at least on my Xbox) ALLM can't be toggled on. So it's the same situation as using the other HDMI ports. And again, this may just be me, but I'm also unable to toggle 4K and HDR on whilst the old device compatibility setting is on. So with being unable to toggle ALLM on, the stutter has gone but we're back to poor input lag.

@Daniel-F

I've done a short video which (I hope) demonstrates the issue. At the end of 2 and 7 seconds in the video, you should be able to spot the stutter as the camera is panning round. It may be hard to tell because of the FPS of the video, but if you analyse it closely, you should spot it.

@DShib  this is great!

Can I ask what HDMi port you are on?  We recommend HDMi Port 3 for this usage and I'm curious to see if this issue still occurs when you are in HDMi 3 if you are not already.

Hi Daniel,

It happens on all 3. We've also tested it with older hardware compatibility enabled (even though it's not old) to no avail.

Forgive the bad video, I only have a tablet but you can clearly the skips, unfortunately a few were when I was hitting the time to change direction but there's a few in the middle that show clearly what happens. Had to post on twitter as no clue how to upload a video here

How did you post a video? There's no video icon in the reply section, despite sky saying there should be.

@Nawwti

I just uploaded it by using the image icon in the reply box, then selecting a video rather than picture.

Sky Glass ALLM - When will it be fixed?

Hi, I am just enquiring as to when the lag issues that are suffered whenever the TV is in low latency mode will be fixed?

When ALLM was introduced earlier this year it worked flawelessly up until around a month or so ago and the only known work around found by other users on the forum is to load up your content on whatever device you're using ALLM on and then reboot the TV and go straight to that input.

I know it is a software only issue as it has worked, but it is starting to get tiresome every time I want to play any form of game or use my computer on the system having to reboot the tv because the moment your device goes out of ALLM or you exit that input on the TV itself it goes back to being a total stuttery mess!

Thanks in advance.

Hi @WillThePlank

We are fellow subscribers here on the forum so no one can tell you. Sky don't release information on what's included in a software release until it is being rolled out, so it's a waiting game I'm afriad.

Re: ALLM causing lag spikes/screen jumps every 5 seconds

Hi,

I assume this has not been fixed?

I purchased a sky glass tv a couple of weeks ago and I have noticed using my xbox series s I also have these micro stutters every few seconds hence why I am here looking for answers.

Is this something sky are looking to fix because if not I may return my tv as having a tv that plays a games console should not be a problem but this is unacceptable.

I have a racing sim seat for my rally games and chucking the car into the corners when experiencing these stutters is making for a unpleasant experience.

My 8 year old samsung tv did a better job than this sky glass is doing.

Why can't we just have a game mode setting for the input like samsung tvs do instead of relying on something that is "auto" as auto settings never get things right

Re: ALLM causing lag spikes/screen jumps every 5 seconds

Yeah still broken & unbearable, I uploaded a video for them & didn't even reply.

There's a workaround. Get the game on you want to play, so it's on screen. Turn off the TV at the wall, then back on, & the stutters gone. It'll stay gone as long as you don't turn over, or switch games, so it's not great but if you're playing 1 game for a few hours it's worth doing,

If it was me, I'd get a new TV, I'll be doing that the 1st opportunity we get. We've had ours over 3 years & it was fine until they added ALLM onto the hdmi slot, now the jitter ruins it & turning ALLM off means it's very delayed, itb was never delayed before.
