Hi sorry as this is my first post here
Ordered a sky glass 55 inch at the end of august 22 and was delivered in sept 22
Noticed a few problems a few days after using it and thought I would live with the problems. Problems being I had weird black bars appearing on the screen visible mostly in brighter scenes. Netflix goes to a black screen and have to turn off at the plug and switch back on and it's pot luck if it works even after doing that. Playlist stuff not appearing for days after it was broadcast and even if it does only lasting for a few days before it's removed. Disney seems to have a weird flicker on anything I watch which is very off putting and if I watch sky original content in uhd or hdr I get a weird line go through the screen which then goes but happens a few times per episode of what I watch.
I am now 4 months in and these problems are getting worse as time goes on. Has anyone else had these issues? I am all up to date with the firmware and have tried everything possible to cure these problems but it's no joy. The bars on the screen are really infuriating in particular. Based in the Republic of Ireland if that's any help just would like to know if anyone else has had these issues and what they have done regarding sky to rectify it.
Thanks guys

Also forgot to add I have noticed when the tv is off sometimes I get the multicoloured sky line come up on the tv then the tv goes off again by itself which happens multiple times a day. I do have the motion glance turned off as well so it cannot be that.
Thanks

This is a known fault, turn off the microphone on the side of the TV and the flash will stop. You won't be able to use hello sky then but can still use voice via the remote.
Flickering, have you set app judder to yes, should stop it.
Netflix again there is a fault sky have been dealing with for months still no fix.
Playlist and mainly complete watching is broken sky working on a fix!
Black lines should not be there! Possible panel fault, your tv may need replacing. Make sure back-light dimming is off local dimming is on reboot tv and try it, if lines remain call Sky.

Thanks for the reply Gincap
It's a shame I have to turn certain things off for the tv to function correctly. The thing keeps coming to life by itself.
The Netflix issue is very strange and also very annoying we watch a lot of stuff on it and to have to do this most of the time we watch it really irks us big time
Yeah the black bars are worrying I watched game of thrones the other night where they are in the snow and all I could see were 5 or 6 black bars behind the whiteness of the snow. We can also see this in any other show which has bright scenes.
I am paying quite a bit for this tv and not impressed at all. I know I am past my 31 days but what with horror stories I have been reading of refurbs being sent as replacements after spending a fortune I am worried we have lost a lot of money over time.
What is the best thing to do in this scenario as I am quite new to sky and new to these forums.
Thanks again for your help

Most of what you listed are bugs that Sky are working on to fix, not the best situation but it is what it is 🤨
Black lines is a panel fault, even outside your 31 days the TV needs replacing. Call Sky tell them of all your problems but in particular the black lines. They should send a replacement TV.

Yeah will have to just hope they fix these issues because it's not what we signed up for. I am used to catch up services from before I had sky glass but when the actual catch up services are better and quicker to upload stuff on respective apps than one of the main selling points of sky glass it's not a good look.
Regarding the panel itself yeah I was thinking it needs to be replaced. Just worried I will get one that's been used before as from what I have seen on these forums. If I was to get it replaced and the one that comes was dusty and had visible signs of use could I reject this at my door as this is big money we are talking about and I would expect a new unit as this is no fault of my own.
Thanks

Isn't app judder setting only applicable to Stream and not Glass?.
I too get the monetary line coming on when the set is off. I wasn't aware switching the mic off at the side fixes it for now.
Any timeline on when this will be fixed or addressed in an update?.

Just happy I'm not the only one getting this no offence guys.
This tv just don't seem fit for purpose to be honest either way you look at it. Really regret my decision going with this and I had the chance in store of getting sky q at the time.
You should not have to turn anything off to make the tv not come on and turn off by itself. That has to be a mix of a software and a hardware fault because why is the hardware triggering the tv to come on when you have not given it any signal to. Don't install too much confidence in it coming on by itself when people are not at home.
How easy is it to get this thing canceled by sky outside your 31 day cooling off as it just is not fit for purpose and not as described when buying it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI've had black lines n 4 previous sets - replacement process is pretty good to be fair

Glass is made by TP Vision.
They also make my previous Philips Ambilight TV.
I'm all too familiar with how they implement their software and bug fixes.
Over 2 years I went from seeing some pretty big flaws cured by software improvements.
This seems to be their way of doing things.
I'm hopeful with Sky behind them they'll have way more clout to make these improvements sooner rather than later.

I'm surprised it took 4 months to get fed up with Glass, it took me less than 48 hours to discover that it was and is a very poor piece of hardware that will only get poorer as time goes by and tech moves on. I feel very sorry for anyone who kept it TBO.

Yeah very bad decision by us. I feel as if I will be stuck constantly now with replacement sets etc all while paying for something that's nearly a grand in price.
Like I said just worried about the horror stories of replacement sets coming used and full of dust and finger prints etc as that is shocking for something that's quite a big purchase over time for a lot of people.
Knowing our luck the replacement will come with its own set of big problems as well and then we are in a constant cycle of replacing.
How hard is it to get this refunded completely outside the 31 days as I assume the process is the same here in Ireland.
These issues would be a big problem on any tv and after a year of being on the British market and 5 or 6 months over here I doubt these are going to be sorted anytime soon. In fact things seem to be getting worse.
Thanks for the replies guys

Judder reduction applies to apps on both Glass & Stream. All it does is switch the output refresh rate between 50Hz (off) or 60Hz (on).
60Hz is better for movies & American content shot at 24fps or 30fps from Netflix/Prime/Apple TV+/Disney+ but if you leave it on then the UK based apps (apart from iPlayer) will force their 25fps output to 60Hz. For smoothest image quality you're better leaving those apps at the native 50Hz. Annoying, I know, but it's not just Glass/Stream that does this, Amazon Firesticks also stick with 60Hz output if left on Auto. Only iPlayer has the function to force native 50Hz output.
