The Equality Act 2010 legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society.

Not just in the workplace....

Wider society means places like Shops, Bars, restaurants, public transport etc, Anywhere an indivual would need to go and not be discrimated against.

It does not cover Broadcasting in the UK as advised more than once it is Ofcoms role.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

If you think OFCOM are breaking the law then use the link I gave earlier in this thread

Re: Subtitles (or lack of) on UHD programmes

@Annie+UK both you and I know that's not what I said.

It just makes it all way to easy and convenient to leave deaf customers out.

Don't you think millions of deaf people have already written to OFCOM?

As a community we are still discriminated against, please tell me why writing to OFCOM again for the umpteenth time will make any shred of difference 🤷🏻‍♂️

What are you trying to achieve by blaming Sky who are not responsible for your complaint?

The correct targets for your complaint are TNT and/or OFCOM

Re: Subtitles (or lack of) on UHD programmes

@Annie+UK OFCOM do not set Skys pricing model.... that's on Sky.

It's well established that the service falls way short of full access for deaf customers. Sky, (and only Sky can)  SHOULD therefore reflect this in their prices for deaf customers, today they don't.

I suspect it would be far too complicated to maintain multiple pricing structures for particular  customer groups. There are numerous reasons why a customer might believe they're entitled to preferential billing. Of course, there's nothing to stop any customer from requesting a discount.

Re: Subtitles (or lack of) on UHD programmes

Well from the evidence seen OFCOM are clearly not doing enough to uphold it.

I would envisage you are not deaf yourself and with all due respect have absolutely no idea about what the deaf community has to put up with and in this day and age. Its totally unnecessary and easily fixed even with proven business cases to support it.
