Posted by a Sky employeeThanks @EmPleh I've now sent that info back to the content team for investigation.
12 Apr 2021 06:01 PM
@EmPlehIs that braying or vigorously signing?
12 Apr 2021 06:04 PM
My braying and singing voice are identical to be fair.
13 Apr 2021 11:27 AM
@EmPlehSigning not singing. Sign language people tend to get vigorous when angry or upset.

Ah sorry. Misread that. I'm not actually deaf, I just have other reasons for needing subtitles

@DaveAccess thanks mate. Now there are no subtitles on Dexter at all, even going back to episodes where subtitles previously worked 😂😂😂
I'd hate to know what you would do to someone you didn't like 😉

Posted by a Sky employeeHi @EmPleh Wow, you're giving me an awful lot of credit there!
I've followed up with the content team. Subtitles were not removed from Dexter.
They are fixing the files for seasons 2 and 4, which they hope to have completed by the end of next week. They've checked seasons 1 and 3 and found no issues.
Hope this sorts it and thanks again for flagging.

Thanks - it's doing it on Season 5 also

Posted by a Sky employeeOk thanks, will let them know.

Add Line Of Duty Season 1 Episode 5 to the list, 1-4 were fine. Had to switch to iPlayer for episode 5

There are many shows missing subtitles for shows on replay. For example none of the Warehouse 13 episodes on demand have subtitles but the live broadcasts do.
BBC shows also very often are missing subtitles, e.g. This Time with Alan Partridge doesn't have any subtitles. They're there on iPlayer of course.

Posted by a Sky employeeHi both. If it's on BBC, such as Line of Duty, then it's generally outside of our control at Sky. I will check our end too, but recommend contacting the BBC on that.
I will ask the team about Warehouse 13.
Thanks, Dave

This isn't aimed at you, so please don't think it is. I really appreciate you engaging the community and trying to front this down.
But that's not true or good enough. Subtitles for Line of Duty are on every episode on iPlayet - but not on Sky? How is that the BBCs fault? We pay an absolute premium for Sky and we are being let down severely on basic services that are available, as standard, on normal streaming services.
I'd still like an answer to the original point - why are subtitles available on standard definition shows/movies but not on 4K? I have been paying for 4K for nearly a year but haven't used it - what do you suggest I do?
Again - not against you, so I am sorry for the direct approach but this needs to be addressed.
Thanks for your ongoing support.

iPlayer and Sky have different subtitle system so just because iPlayer has subtitles this does not automatically mean that the BBC have supplied sky with a version of the programme with the correct subtitles

That's great information and thanks for that.
But I literally don't care at this point. Why aren't Sky checking they are the correct versions? Why is it up to their paying customers to report this and get fobbed off with a "contact the BBC line" errr - no. How about Sky contacts the BBC to get it sorted?
