I have been asking for 4 years now. Why can't I change the size of subtitles on my sky Q box.

This was Sky 's reply to my question whether Sky have plans to improve subtitles by allowing the viewer to choose font size, transparency etc. I don't think they will be rolling out improvements anytime soon.

Been there. Done that!

This forum seems to be purely for people to interact with each other and in no way get benefit from points raised from @Sky.
It's a shame we can't upload (or I can't, no option to) photos of our favourite subtitle placements 😆

It's been great to see this comment thread alive recently.

I might even go onto BBC iplayer in the next few days and post how much better it is.
Sky have been around for decades. No excuses.

Agreed.
My OLED has burn-in from the 1980s subtitles on Sky. Gutting really as the TV has software to mitigate against such issues, but can't tackle the blocky subs Sky impose over the broadcast image. Dreadful.

There are 4 people in here ... somewhere

Maester Aemon with his appealingly placed subtitle

Sky can you see how awful this is? Surely. Someone reply. Thanks

From the replies to recent requests to Sky to bring subtitle controls in line with other streaming providers, it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Misplaced subtitles
So, we can see Bobby's pleased with the judges' comments but what about Dianne's expression??!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreNo provider, BBC or otherwise, can factor in the two people being in a shot at the same time being completely different heights.

This is true, however other service providers do not
a) Have massive subtitles
b) Have massive subtitles without the option to make them smaller
c) place said massive subtitles halfway up the screen.
I can post photos from just this evening's show alone to more than demonstrate that.

but other providers have a transparent background box not a solid black one so can see most of what is happening.

Plus, the option to select a smaller (and possibly a transparent) font would obscure a smaller area of the display

Hello! I'm just wondering if susbtitles on Sky can be fixed or they are always that bright and big? I need them but every time I switch them on, I switch them off in a couple of minutes, because they take too much space and draw too much attention.
i know that's not a new problem, but maybe something changed?
