Literally all other TV and streaming platforms sorted this out long time ago. The only one that didn't seem to be sky which is still stuck in 90s of the last century.

Well I've put my money where my mouth is and jumped ship to Virgin. It's the only way that change will come - if Sky know that they're losing customers over this. When my contract is about to run out I'll see whether anything's been done to entice me back!

How are the subtitles on Virgin? Their forum seems to have exactly the same complaint about large Teletext-style subtitles: https://community.virginmedia.com/discussions/stream/adjusting-subtitles-font--background/5498951

Subtitles are way to large, is sky going to adjust these or at least give a font editor to reduce the size

The fact that this thread was created more than 4 years ago may give you some indication of the answer to that.

I'll be out of contract next month, but I'm stuck with Sky because I can't get Virgin TV or Broadband (and wouldn't if I could due to the African call centres), and I wouldn't go back on Talk Talk for the same reason.

Also, as I'm deaf myself, I frequently put subtitles on for watching stuff, my Parents hate it though, I've lost count of how many times I've physically shown Dad how to take the "words" off, but I still have to show him every time (he's 77 next month and has Alzheimer's)

Just moved to sky stream from virgin - I cant get over how huge they are so cant be as bad on virgin media.

I only use them to watch late at night with the volume lower guess I'll have to get used to them.

@Dankg You moved from Sky to Virgin?

Sorry man but that was a bad idea, you think Sky CS are rubbish? You ain't dealt with Virgin.

I've done the same. Sky came back too late with the decent offers. The trouble is they don't really reward loyalty  and I did switch to Virgin and so far do good. I don't think the subtitles are as big as Sky but neither of them match the streaming services. I watch mainly free to air and HD is standard on them, not an add on and increasingly UHD is being offered, again for free.

Do sky ever answer these, have the same issue. Hard of hearing but husband isn't, the subtitles are too big

Sky are not even prepared to admit that there's a problem, let alone actually address it.  There is no mention of it in Sky's online help and advice. If you complain in person you're just waved away with assurances that your views will be passed on, with no contact details of the department responsible, and no offer of follow-up.

It's like Teletext, it's stuck in the 80s. They really are awful, take up the whole screen.
