Re: Why do Sky place subtitles in the middle of the screen in front of important details?

This is the reply I received from Sky on 24/1/25:

Thank you for your further email to Sky regarding the size of background of the subtitles.

The subtitle format we use is called Teletext. It is a fixed font and unfortunately you can’t alter it to make it smaller or bigger.

We use Teletext as Sky Set Top Boxset can only decode that format at the moment. This is something we are looking into though, but at the moment the size cannot be changed.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

That's exactly the same response I got from them about 5 years ago! So clearly they have absolutely no plans to look into it or change it at all.

Cost to much to replace everyone's sky box, that's what their saying yet again and have been for years !

They charge so much, surely they can afford to change our sky box !

Why are they using archaic teletext anyway???

If their competitors can do it why can't sky ??

One does wonder, given that Sky's satellite broadcasting days appear to be numbered, and there's a system based on Teletext already in place which works, whether anything more customisable has much priority now in the development schedule.

To Sky viewer treltions team,

This is a very disappointing response. Current tech and advances in software this shouldm be possible all too easily. From the numerous responses to my query thisis a problem that should have been solved and rather sooner than later.

I would appreciate your advanced 'tech teams' come up with a solution sooner rtaher than alter.

As partially deaf this would enhance my appreciation of my recent sky customer experience.

Thank you for your replay,

Richard
