Looking for ways to remotely operate sky tv from a different location

I am looking at ways of being able to operate sky tv from another location for my mum. She has dementia and has issues with the tv timing off and not being able to switch back on again.  I have found means of remotely switching tv back on but now need to look at the sky packages. This causes a lot of destress to my mum which I'm trying to reduce.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

The only device I know of able to facilitate remote control of a Sky box is a Slingbox but they're no longer available,  I'm afraid. I don't know of any other solution for this.

Sky +/HD. Used to have a remote record and auto tune feature which would not only set a recording but turn over to the correct channel when a program started.   This feature was heavily used by the disabled community and I would ask that you contact the accelerator team and ask for it to be brought Sky Q / Stream etc!   I know hundreds of people of disability forums and carer workers who want it back and regard it as the biggest isssie with Q as many of their clients in care homes or that have care home have the TV now stuck in one channel until the carer comes (once/twice/three times a day) to change the channel over.

with plus you could just set a record / and auto tune from the Box, app or tv guide website which would suit your needs perfectly.

I assume you could set up a vpn and use a network remote app but that would be costly and really shouldn't be needed for such a basic feature that their old product had over 20 years ago.
