Why do I have to download the Sky app to receive my VIP awards?

I see this as discriminatory as I pay for Sky the same as everyone else.  Why do I have to download te app to receive my rewards?

Do you mean the My SKy App? If so you can get some rewards by calling Sky

Sky needs to make my rewards accessible through my account, as I'm sure they used to do.

Everyone who wants access to Sky VIP and the rewards that are available has to use the app. The VIP program is nothing to do with discounts that you might be able to have on your account as these can only be added by Sky after you haggle something from them.

You don't have to call, no one if forcing you, if you have no access to the app then do what I do and ignore the VIP rewards

You get little enough free in this life.  If I can watch a film that I don't have to pay for because I am a Sky customer, then why should I be made to download an app that I don't want?

Because that's how Sky give people access to the rewards, is running an app that much of a big deal???

Pretty much most of the rewards systems for services or retailers i use are all app based (supermarkets, coffee shops). The majority of each company's customer base will have mobile phone and thus be able to download the relevant app to participate in the reward scheme.

Now, i know this may be difficult, but try and imagine a world where a lot of people DON'T use apps. Yes. It really does exist. |For a range of reasons.

But i guess you don't know about such things.

Not being patronising just providing an overview of how the world is going, with lots of extras ( and indeed better deals particularly in financial/banking industry) going behind app based services. Ultimately because of the majority of a company's target market have the ability to install a phone app they will continue to push things through apps. Yes a minority of customers will be disadvantaged by these decisions, but that is typically the way with these types of business decisions.

Im new to doing all this forum stuff and only came across it when trying to find 

the vip rewards part.  because I have been with sky for over 20yrs and thought what rewards are there.

I Am totally in agreement with Carles21.  Why on earth do I have to have the APP.

and yes I agree  again,  we should be able to see this in our account. there is  no expanation I can see as to why we can not 

As for saying " thats the way the world is going is daft ",  If people want to be a sheep and follow thats fine.

But you should have the choice,  but no,   you are being TOLD  if you want it you have to download the  "app"..... its  app this app that, you cant even ask a question in some places, because the first thing they say is " have you got the app ".  People forget the more things that are digital that you have is food for scammers.  So before you ask, yes i have had my ID stolen .  people now live their lives by the mobile phone,   just think how much you panic when you forget your phone when you leave home,  also think of the amount of stuff stored on your phone.  could someone hack into it if you lost it ,  as  a warning ....you bet.

Thank you for supporting my point, as I think some people on here have missed it!  Comes down to equity for all.  If you are going to give rewards for being a Sky customer  - give them - not with a condition of downloading yet another app that you don't want or need - and as you say another way for scammers to access your data.

@Carles21 To be honest, I don't think you're missing out on anything. I've never benefitted from anything in VIP.
