@MJP1977 but then surely it stands to reason that there would be no new upgrades to the app and if it needed an upgrade to continue to work with Sky's backend system then it would stop the app from working properly or stop it altogether

Hardly stands to reason. The degrade now means I have to mobilise from my bedroom, onto my stair lift, down to the lounge to turn the stb over. Super considerate of Sky

You can still use the app to turn your box over by selecting the remote option at the top right mext to the search option then the keypad option so you will need to know the channel number that you want to change the box to.

Unfortunately not. Entering any channel number now shows 'You can't tune to this channel'

Is your TV upstairs and your Sky+ box downstairs and if so how are they connected ?

Yes. I have a STB downstairs, which feeds the other rooms in the house using the output and a home routing kit

You could try a TV link/Magic eye with it as this will allow you to change the channel without having to go downstairs.

I have found an app that now provides me with full remote access.

 

it is called 'Remote control for Sky'
