My barcodes have always worked no issues touch wood

its  a sky software issue , nothing to do with sainsburys , it obviously conflicts with other software on phone .

I have exactly the same problem with the barcodes not scanning at two separate Sainsbury's superstores that I have visited over the past weeks of the offers. 
All instructions followed - screen brightness up high, within 30 minutes of activation etc. 

I have an IPhone, if that makes any difference?

So frustrating; not least for the poor person behind me in the queue!

I had the same problem but it finally worked so suppose how long you want to keep trying.I always use self checkout.People behind me not to much of a worry then.Also staff at my sainsbury,s are very nice and i talk to a few of the ladies there aswell,been using that sainsburys since 1983.

Back to square one barcode did not work today .Staff say there  is no number on the code.Couldnt get the taste the difference snacks today then time run out on the barcode.A lot of us are having this problem Sky should do something about it we are  missing out every week on free treats.

I contacted Sky about this issue; here is the response received:

Hello,

Thank you for providing us with feedback about your experience. We are very sorry to hear you had trouble using your coupon in the store. We are actively working on resolving this issue and are using your feedback to escalate it to our technical teams at Sky and Sainsbury's.
