Those are my favourite pizzas, and they're worth about £6 so I was determined to get this treat after failing on the Love Corn treat at the customer services desk last week! ! I was ready for an all-out row with the manager if it didn't work.
I always use the Sainsburys handsets to scan my shopping, so I did that, scanned the pizza and some other stuff, and went to the SmartShop checkouts. Scan the shreen QR code as normal, go to Coupons, and..... nope. Screen full brightness, even tried rotating and enlarging the "Live Code" but nope, I was there for several minutes trying with no success, and finally called over an assistant who thankfully realised what the isse was. SMARTSHOP COUPON SCANNERS CAN'T SCAN THE SKY LIVE CODE!!! She happened to know this, and printed me a transfer receipt and told me to go to the next checkout section which in our branch is a SelfScan section but you can use the SmartShop handsets in there as well. The helper in that section used the transfer receipt to bring up my shopping on the machine there, and then we went into the payment/coupon section and scanned the LiveCode using the BIG scanner panel for scanning shopping items. It worked immediately and I now have a free pizza, YAY!
So, this is the deal. DO NOT GO TO CUSTOMER SERVICES - their scanner can't read the LiveCode. DO NOT GO TO THE SMARTSHOP CHECKOUTS - their coupon scanner can't read the LiveCode either! If you're using a handset, go to SELFSCAN and present the LiveCode coupon in the coupons tab on the screen just before making your payment, and scan the code WITH THE BIG HORIZONTAL SCANNER WINDOW, and then you should be good to go. I don't know if the coupon scanner on the old-style manned conveyor belt checkouts can read the LiveCode though. That was a lot of effort, but now I know how to do it 😃
