MySky app and Sainsbury tasty treat offer

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

Hi

This offer in the MySky app / VIP appears to be unnecessarily complex to claim

Could someone either clarify it / improve it ?

So far as I can see there are a limited number of vouchers - fine so far

For many people (like me) , Sainsbury Superstores are not the most convenient choice for the offer as there isn't one anywhere near where I live.

Let's say though, I decide it's worth a trip to have a look around and get a free pizza. I go on the app, the offer tells me not to activate until I can get to the checkout within 30 minutes

so I go to the store- potentially by the time I get there - there are no codes left ? Is that how this works ?

When I reach the page in the photo, have I reserved anything at this point ? Or do I need to wait till I have nearly finished my shopping before I click the blue box ?

So far as I can see, this offer is incredibly hit or miss and needs a complete revamp ??

The way I understand how this works is that you redeem the offer and if succesful you are redircted to a webpage where you can access your coupon, from here when you activate it you then have 30 minutes to use it as the till - that is how I understand it works.

I think you are correct @caesarome

My suggestion to Sky would be for successful customers to be sent an email confirming success. The enail should have an activation link - valid until a certain date.

By all means, make that final activation valid for only 30 minutes.

At least then if I go to the Sainsbury store with a "success" email I know I will be able to claim my freebie.

Yes noticed this too today.

The sainsburys pizza offering appeared, part of the new food offering.

Must admit the date for it seemed confusing as it appeared today. Had to read the offer a few times to get my head around the dates, thinking at first you only have a Tuesday to get it.

But then putting my brain in gear, think it's trying to say you can claim from today till Monday and have from now until Tuesday to get it.

Must be a better way to word that...

Make nights in better with a tasty treat on us. We’re giving away a Sainsbury's Taste the Difference pizza, it’s our way of saying thanks. To get yours, claim your coupon by 11:59pm on Monday and redeem at any Sainsbury’s Superstore before stores close on Tuesday

Then I read the FAQ and saw some kind of activation and scanning procedure you have to do yourself at the till that gives you only 30 minutes from activating via a webpage/app in the store.

Sounds very overcomplicated. Why not just email a voucher barcode or qr code for the checkout staff to scan, rather than this long winded activation process.

Think for the way it works now it first needs to send an email to your phone with the activation website link, rather than that very random looking MySky message saying 'Almost there!'

At least then you know you have bagged the code that you can activate in store in the 30min timeframe.

Yeah, this was my understanding of the offer, although the difference between claiming and activating the offer probably needs to be clearer.

Got to admit the dates did confuse me at first when i saw the offer when it first launched on Wednesday. The offer can be updated weekly with the actual dates it's valid until. For example, claim the coupon by Monday, 14th July, 11:59 pm and redeem it before the store closes on Tuesday, 15th July.

Well, I tried to redeem this today in our local Sainsbury's, "tried" being the operative word.

Picked up the pizza along with some other bits, used self scan as usual and headed to the self scan checkout.

Activated the coupon and then tried to scan it, which is where the issue starts for me and the team in Sainsbury's. To prevent fraud (such as taking a screen shot and sharing the code), the activated barcode actually changes once created.

If you look at it you can see the bars moving. I get why this is done, but the thing would not scan! I tried every angle, the Sainsbury's team logged in, they tried it as well, but no joy. No wonder it needs a 30 minute countdown and you have to do it at checkout... 🤣

This was the third time someone had come in apparently and the first one did scan, but mine and one more didn't.

For security, there is no code on display that can be typed in and, as this is a Nectar promotion (according to the staff), there is no override code provided by Sainsbury's.

In the end they had to get a supervisor to do a manual override to credit the cost of the pizza.

So, nice pizza, understand the security requirements, but this doesn't work unless you really enjoy standing at the checkouts waving your phone around!

I had no issue redeeming my voucher teh other day, however one annoyance is that the code has been approved by a member of staff, and we all know how difficult it can be to get the attention of someone at the self service checkouts 😂. Although i understand this is more a Sainsbury's/Nectar process thing for free voucher codes where the item is higher than £3.50.

Re: MySky app and Sainsbury tasty treat offer

For me it's just another VIP offer that I can't use - there is no Sainsbury's where I live. Had it been for the Co-op...

On the plus side, at least Sainsburys staff seem to be aware of this new relationship and offers.

I recall the free Cadbury's chocolate offers from Tesco's that would occur a couple of times a year, where the voucher code wouldn't scan, and the staff wouldn't have any idea about the offer at all.

This reward doesn't seem to work at Sainsbury stores what a waste of a visit!

As that offer finishes tonight then isn't much you can do about it if store staff would not apply this for you but you can provide feedback via this email address letting Sky know about this - foodreward @ skyticketit.com (no spaces)
