Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

What exactly does 'escalating' mean please?  I see it a lot and as there is rarely any follow up I take it it means 'sent to some inbox somewhere'.  Can I be given that contact areas details please, so I can 'escalate' in person?

Escalating means you post has been alerted to Sky;s messaging team, this link explains how it works:

https://community.sky.com/t5/Did-you-know/Escalating-a-post-to-a-Sky-expert/ba-p/3711147

You now have 24 hours to start the chat to Sky via the bubble that you should see at the bottom of this page so they can help you with this. If you fail to then the chat will be closed. It isn't a live chat so there might be a delay in their replies to you.

Myskyapp Not Authorised

Had it confirmed after 5 weeks of fighting the tide of ignorance, arrogance and bare faced denials, Sky Exec Complaints area finally give in and tell me, yes this problem has been going on for months, and yes its happend a lot over the years, and no they have no clue how to fix it.   A security patch put in to bolster security settings has corrupted many accounts. IT are remaining  tight lipped still, however Complaints area are exhausted with having to defend the indefensible and are now opening up.  If you are impacted by the sudden Not Authorised to access your account message and you are a VIP member, well I'm afraid you,ve only one choice now, leave Sky.

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

I've just spent 3 weeks on the same fruitless quest!!

As a new customer I was given a reward of a film = but I had to view it via MySky.

Then spent  ages trying to get MySky on Chromebook, Laptop, Desktop, Sony Tablet - all to no avail.

Went round in circles with Customer Service.

Hopeless!!

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

Please save yourself the stress and frustration in trying to get this sorted, you wouldn't believe the amount of people I've had the misfortune of speaking with over the last month+, and the things they say are horrendous, from, "that's odd it's only you" (post office scandal anyone?) to, yes we know it's  super strength new security because " the world is very dangerous now" (I kid you not).  The latest was Monday and the individual from Executive Complaints department actually tried to justify the problem by telling me I should be appreciative of the new security changes as it's for my protection!  She simply couldn't understand why I laughed and pointed out the irony.   I'm afraid the truth is simply that no one at Sky is prepared to go up against their IT dept.  Patches are probably only scheduled to go in every x number of months, and nothing will force them to fix ad-hoc.   Some have had the problem for years, and posts are regularly deleted by apparent moderators. Strange that (when I first started looking poking about here there were loads going back to 2022). I've finally got Sky at least to remove all penalties for leaving sky now which I will do at the end of the month, after 25years.   That's the value of VIP status. Good luck if you wish to continue the fight.

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

This has just started happening to me, I called earlier today to change my address and tied to order sky tv and broadband via the internet earlier tonight, but got an error when trying to complete and since then haven't been able to log into the app been using it fine for 5 years as I'm on my second sky mobile phone.

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

Sky have corrupted many thousands of sky ID accounts and refuse to fix.  I took it to complaint level and sky eventually admitted it was thier end after 2 months of intense contact and persistence. Shockingly also admitted they didn't have control  of their IT dept and knew about a corruption for many months customer wide but as it's a feature and not a part of a pack they have little interest in it, and said it may never be fixed , I was offered £50 to go away or go to ombudsman. That was 15 months ago and neither I nor my wife have been able to access the app since.   All started around sept 2024, I'm afraid it's down to pure luck if you will ever be able to log back in  (ps, the super users for this forum are 'asked, presumably by sky themselves, to delete posts on this topic regularly under the 'guise' of archiving, there were loads of complaints from 2023 onwards which I read late 2024, so I assume it's to hide the fact that they know they cant solve .  Sadly you won't get anywhere with ringing them about it as you,ll be routed though to an Indian offshore call centre, then god help you. They lie through their teeth. Sky offshore are akin to a scamming unit. Really awful experiences. Sky are no longer the company they used to be, so vote with your feet and find a better provider. (If you can still log into ' my sky'  on the web with your credentials, this proves you may be one of the corrupted ones).

@LiamC2

Is it the not authorised error you are seeing ?

If so do you use either private relay or a VPN on your device ?

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

Sound about right, the offshore call centre seem more interested in trying to sell me packages than solving my problem

Re: My account is not authorised to use the my sky app

It's been 15 months.  A little longer than a wee while.   Sky complaints team said, "tough, we may never sort it." I kid you not.
