Plenty of retailers unfortunately do things like this. Where some black fridays deals aren't actually deals as they same product/service was on offer at the same or cheaper price previously within the last few month.
Likely because a lot of people won't do research into a price history at a retailer and will see "black friday deals" and think its a bargain. What i've noticed is that as retailers have turned Black Friday deals from a week long sale to a month long sale the "deals" aren't really deals at all.
