Access Denied when trying to sign into the Sky Sports app

Every time I try to sign in or create an account on Sky Sports I get this message come up. I've seen similar posts but no one seems to be posting the solution. It's not VPN or an outdated app.

Make sure you are using the correct email address to log in with

Are you already a paying Sky TV customer or are you with someone like Virgin ?

I'm with BT. I tried signing into my paid Sky account and have tried setting up a new unpaid account. Neither will allow me to do so

You have to be a paying Sky or Virgin customer to access the Sky Sports app so if you are with Bt then this is why you are seeing this message.

If you have a Sky account are you a paying Sky TV customer ?

Yes, I have tried signing in on my paid Sky subscription account and also by trying to create an account and neither works.

To confirm you have the full Sports package with Sky and that you do not subscribe to just the one sports channel ?

I had the same problem.

To fix mine, I copied https://skyid.sky.com/signin/sports into an incognito window on Chrome. 

This time, the 'Access Denied' screen didn't pop up and I was able to progress to logging in.
