I access my sky email from outside of the UK and have done so for the last 6 years.  In the last 24 hours I am unable to do so and meet with a 288 access denied error message.  I have tried from different browsers and different devices. I have cleared the cache.  McAfee VPN is not turned on, (I'm no techie, simply following suggestions from this page and others.)

I contacted sky/yahoo, (I don't actually know which of the two I was talking to!) and their best advice was to reset my password - this hasn't cured the problem.

Pls help!

This is probably to do with the IP address from which you're accessing Sky Yahoo Mail. See Sky's help here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/problems-accessing-sky-yahoo-mail-error-access-denied

Thank you - I'm just on the phone now to offer details of the IP address and the error message details - this is my 6th call to them in the last 48 hours, but no-one has asked for this information from me.  😬

It's usually associated with an IP address issue. Are you using a VPN?

So with the assistance of a very helpful Sky employee, I have now got to the bottom of this.

It seems that those sky email users who live outside of the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany and Italy, (the latter two being countries where Sky operate also,) will no longer be able to access their emails unless physically in these countries.  This reportedly is another legacy of Brexit.

So for those sky email users who do not live in these countries, but have continued to use their accounts, be warned, if your account hasn't already prevented your access, it is going to happen sometime in the not too distant future.  Find yourself another email address and update all of your contacts before this happens to you too!

However I can access my emails using my mobile phone but not using laptop.

Could I forward my sky emails to google account if so how

You could have your Gmail account collect them, go to settings > all settings > accounts & import to do this.

Just to confirm that I followed this up with Sky in a private area of the forum and I'm happy to report that there hasn't been any change in the circumstances which cause a 288 error. It happens when there are security concerns about the connection being used - I've occasionally experienced it myself when holidaying abroad.

Switching to a different connection may resolve it. If not, it's a matter of contacting Sky on returning to the UK/Ireland.

It's not Brexit related, and there are no plans to impose a general block on logging in from outside the UK/Ireland.

The connection I am using I have been for over 10 years.

I can actually use my username and password and get to the screen where the options in your  LH corner

If I click on the top 4 they all work and I am routed to next page if I click on Yahoo Mail I get the following error message
