Re: Yahoo Email "imap.tools.sky.com” on the default ports timed out
Hi just now encountered the same yahoo mail issue....just stopped receiving updating.
read through your articles and this is what worked for me...i have old 2009 i mac and el capitan.
deleted my mail account. eventually went to preferences and added the sky mail account there.
it failed first time so still on that screen showing 'unable to verify account i removed imap.sky. etc and typed in imap.mail.yahoo.com.
it failed again.
so keeping imap.mail.yahoo.com in place then entered the 16 digit password and the account restored for me.
hope this works for you

Good to hear you found a fix!
I've already started the process of transferring all my online accounts to my gmail....
but I'll give this a try when I get the time!

Thanks for letting us know what worked for you
I would have expected the generated password to work with the Sky server, and the account password to work with the Yahoo server, but if it works the otherway round for you that is good.

If anybody else as this issue update you operating software. Due to the age of my desktop I was running El Capitan I have upgraded too High Sierra which solved the issue. Make sure your files are backed up

Yeah I though that would fix the issue but I can't update the OS due to running old software that will stop working if I update.

No I didn't - I couldn't figure it out or find a solution so I changed to Gmail. After a few months I started to receive random emails again through Yahoo - no idea what they changed but I had already changed every online account to my Gmail address.

Re: Yahoo Email "imap.tools.sky.com” on the default ports timed out
Thanks Dale+Gribble for getting back to me. According to Yahoo it's a mac mail issue, with older versions of mac mail, so now that I'm using the latest OS and mail app they will probably blame that? Strangely my iphone has always been OK until this morning and it had the same connection error.
