Unable to login to Sky email on App since changing password - error during authentication

Hi, I had to change my password for Sky email and now am unable to access my mail via any App such as Outlook. The only way I can access and see my emails is directly logging in via a webpage. 

I have tried to delete the account from the Apps on my mobile App and laptop, but when I try to re-add as soon as I try to input the password an error of 'An error has occurred during authentication' flashes up.

Any ideas on how this can be fixed would be greatly appreciated.

Try generating yourself a 16 digit password from here:

 

https://www.sky.com/sky-yahoo-mail/manage-apps?client=email

 

Then using this as the password for your Sky email account in Outlook.

unfortunately, the login screen pops up and then disappears instantly, it doesn't give the opportunity to attempt the login.

You mean the login screen in Outlook as it should stay until you enter your account password.

Yes, on my mobile outlook App (Andriod). As I was having issues, I decided to remove the Sky mail account from my outlook app. I've then tried to add a new account. In the next box it asks for my email address which I add. I click continue and it changes to a Yahoo login, again my email address is given but as soon as I click on Next to add my password, the screen just flashes back to outlook and the error message is seen.

When setting it up does it ask you for the email provider, if so select Other and use these settings:

 

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server

Server - imap.tools.sky.com
Port - 993
Requires SSL - Yes


Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

Server - smtp.tools.sky.com
Port - 465
Requires SSL - Yes
Requires authentication - Yes

 

Then the 16 digit password.

Just tried your suggestion, was looking good, then I got the following login error; 'The connection to your email server timed out. Please check your mail settings'

 

One other question, is the SMTP user name - my email address or my name?

By changing your password, you have triggered your account to require OAuth  authentication. (if it didn't require it before)

That means when you set up the account you will require to authenticate yourself to Yahoo, or you will be required to use a generated password, instead of your usual Sky password.

Depends on the SMTP server you are using. If it's the Sky one (smtp.tools.sky.com) the username should surfice, if it's the Yahoo one (smtp.mail.yahoo.com) it will be the email address.

Your SMTP username can be your Sky email address as it should work.
