Just because the settings look good, it doesn't mean they are, as for Sky support on email, they are likely to tell you anything that gets you off the phone.

If there is a general problem with the Sky|Yahoo servers we would have a lot more posts on here.

Have you tried to see if you can use a different app to get the emails, thereby proving it isn't a server problem?

Have you tried re-adding the account to Thunderbird, in case of corruption?

What server are you using in Thunderbird?

Re: Thunderbird timing out trying to connect to sky

Just did a quick test, I can send mail out through sky, which was then recieved ok to my other company email account through Thunderbird, so just retrieving my sky emails is the problem it seems, with server timeout massage each time it's tried, any suggestion what I can do at my end, if it is a probelm at my end, not as told by sky at thier end?

Re: Thunderbird timing out trying to connect to sky

Would I need to delete the current account to re add, as this would remove all my saved emails which I don't want to do, or could I just add as another account ?  I can actually send out emails OK via Sky address account, which are delivered OK. elsewhere.

@bri1

Sorry but that image can't be shown as you need to blank out your username before reposting.

If you are using POP as you suggested earlier, your emails have been downloaded to your local inbox so they are likely to stay there even if you remove the account.

If you copy them to another folder first, they should definitely be safe.

Depending how you set it up, they may still be on the server if you didn't set the option to "remove from server".

Personally I'd try with a different app first.

Another possibility is to create a different user on your PC (if that is what you are using, you haven't said) and install Thunderbird on that user and see if it works.

Re: Thunderbird timing out trying to connect to sky

Is it worth generating a new SKY password, then just replacing the current one, or is this likely not the issue here?

I would say no, if it were the password I would expect a password error, not server not responding, but you coild try it.

You did say you were using OAuth2, but that doesnt use a generated password?
