Thunderbird timing out trying to connect to sky

Thunderbird is timing out trying to connect to sky, no error messages, just not connecting, been doing tis for two days now, any known issues?

Nobody else is reporting any issues with it so if you have it metalled on a computer could anything like a firewall be blocking it ?

Nothing has changed, at all at my end, other company emails coming through OK as usual

It might be one of these odd Yahoo glitches that clears itself after a while. 

In the meantime you can acccess your emails here:

https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email/

 

And the above link is something you need to login into at least once per year to keep your email account active.

Yeah, I can use the webmail OK, don't usually bother with this prefer the pop3 mail, could well be some crappy random gltch at thier end I suppose, this is the third day.

@bri1 are you using Thunderbird's OATH2 compliant authentication settings? If not you might need to generate an app password to log in. Link here for Sky's app password generator: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/problems-accessing-sky-mail-from-your-email-app

Yes OATH2 in settings, was working fine until two and a half days ago, everything looks OK in the settings, nothing has been chnaged

Just realised that Thunderbird had an update on the 29th July, that's likekly when the probelm started, looks like a glitch in the update, any idea when the nxt update might be, maybe to fix this?

You would be better of asking Mozilla this seeing as Thunderbird is their product.

I very much doubt it was anything to do with an update, but it depends if you are on the release (monthly) or ESR (annual) update channel.

However you could try to force an update by downloading and reinstalling Thunderbird.

I have posted on the mozilla forum, but got no replies, my other email account on theer is still working fine downlading regularly, just a problem with the sky accont

currently talking to tech support, which takes an age to get through to, apparently they are having server problems, many customrs are affected and calling up, but nothing on the website about this, utter rubbish isn't it!

You say it has been ongoing for 4 days, if that were the case, we would definately know on here.

What have you done to try to resolve the problem yourself, so far you have given us very little to go on?

Have checked settings, all good, as they should be according to SKY site, getting server timeout message each time trying to connect after some time of trying, contacted mozilla help forum, got no reply, Spoke to Sky tech support regarding the issue which they say thay are aware of, why would they lie, other email address from a different company still working as normal on Thunderbird?
