Sky have removed it for everyone while they investigate the issues from today.

Would you even want to, after what has just happened?

I have just had the same problem in the last hour, I must have asked for the 6 digit code to get resent a couple of dozen times but nowt was forthcoming.
Luckily I found where I had the recovery code written down and thank God the two-step verification is now switched off never to be activated again.
I have no hesitation is saying: two factor authentication go to hell! 😡

My thought exactly. It's been obvious obvious from the very start it was badly thought out and poorly implemented.
Thank goodness you found the recovery code, so many people don't record it anywhere. (despite being told they should)

How I miss the halcyon days of when it was Sky Gmail rather than Yahoo.
I made my Sky email address my main email address back then on the strength of it being Gmail, probably 20 years ago now.
Not sure how long it is now since Yahoo got the gig and I definitely have now idea why Sky changed to them in the first place but I assume it can only have been a financial decision.
It's been a terribly poor experience ever since and as for this shambolic state of affairs which is clearly an ongoing issue just emphasises how bad Yahoo is!

It might have been because Google stopped supporting 3rd party email providers but you are correct in that Yahoo are not the best which is why we live in a world where the customer has a choice and therefore can choose a more reliable alternative provider like Gmail to use instead.

I didn't realise that was the reason why Sky stopped being Gmail so I stand corrected on that.
I totally agree with you that punters have a choice but I'm someone who's had the same mobile number for over 25 years now so I've never been down with changing how people contact me.
I have got a secondary email address that is a Gmail account, along with old Hotmail and Yahoo email addresses from dial up days but my Sky addy is main one for everything.
This consequently means I'm going to be stuck with Sky Yahoo till I start pushing up daisies, unfortunately.

I know what you mean as years ago I used to be with Bt so U had an email address with them. I then moved to Sky and after a while Bt wanted to start charging me a monthly fee to be able to continue using my email address with them. There was no way I was going to be paying for something as basic as an email address so I moved everything to Gmail and yes it was a pain having to update the address everywhere but should term pain for long time gain I say as I haven't looked back since.

Oh yeah the old @btinternet addresses, blimey I had one of them too but that was when I was a devoted hotmailer so I never actually used it.
I didn't realise the saucy so & so's started charging people for them though, what an absolute liberty!
I also had an o2 email address in the days that they gave you free broadband with your mobile contract. Alas they shut the servers down as soon as they pulled out of the home phone/broadband market and sold my contract with them to Sky 🙄
I'm going to have to ponder changing my main email address from Sky to Gmail because it seems a serious chore for a creature of habit like me.

It will be worth it in the long run as these issues that are around with Yahoo just don't exist with Gmail.
