I want to turn off two step verification in sky yahoo mail but don't have a recovery code
My verification codes go to my wife's phone which is proving to be inconvenient. I would like to turn off two step verification or at least change from my wife's phone number to my own mobile number. I have Sky Yahoo mail and have searched through all my old emails, for the recovery code but can find nothing. I have searched through all my old text messages but still nothing. I do not even remember getting a recovery code but all the suggestions seem to suggest I must have one. I can access my emails on my mobile phone, the problem only seems to occur when I try to sign in to my Sky Yahoo mail on my laptop.

You should have got an email when you first activated the two step verification so have you checked all files and folders including junk/trash/bin for it ?

As the 2FA code is being sent your wifes's phone, that will probably be where the recovery code was also sent.

My wife has also thoroughly checked her emails searching back as far as possible but has found nothing. I must assume that the email with the recovery code has been deleted in error or not realising the importance of it.

Not only would you have been sent an email with the recovery code, it would have also been displayed onscreen where it says to make a not of it but sadly as you do not know what it is then there is no way to turn this off now.

There really should to be a way to administer it via your account settings, but as there doesn't appear to be, my advice is to stay well away from Sky's 2FA.

Yes, if you want to use it, be absolutely certain you pay close attention to the set up instructions. Talae great care to enter your mobile number correctly and do what it says on screen and make a note of the Recovery Code and keep it safely.
There appears to be no hope of Sky bailing you out if you get it wrong.

To be (slightly) fair, the email does make some useful suggestions for preserving it:
Ways to save your code:

Still, if you can't find the email, that's not much use.

Ways to save your code:
- Forward this email to another email account
- Write the code down and store it somewhere safe
- Copy the code and paste it to the cloud (Google Keep, Apple Notes)
Still, if you can't find the email, that's not much use.
And I wonder how many people would actually do any of those anyway unless they knew they'd be up the swanny without the Recovery Code....
