I cannot see any zoom setting to make the page smaller

I cannot see the whole page unless I move the bottom bar to move the page across to access the setting gear and even then there is nothing that I can see which will make the page smaller.

Assuming you are using a browser to access your email, the zoom setting is a function of the browser, and will differ slightly depending on the browser you are using, but if you are using a PC holding down the control (CTRL) key and pressing the +(plus) or -(minus) keys should increase/decrease it.
