Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

You could try temporarily disabling it completely to see what happens and if the same happens then restore it as you can rule out the broadband shield being the cause of the issue.

just to say thank you for your advice - that seems to have solved the issue - now emails are downloading as they should
