Keeping my email account open

I do log in regularly but don't use it a lot these days. Is that OK?

@DC5004 yes. How much you use it doesn't matter (I can't remember the last time I sent an email from mine), as long as you log in at least once every 6 months via sky.com

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

To my surprise i got this email as well, i've had my Sky email address for 23 years and it's used on a daily basis via Thunderbird using POP3 server settings.
As well as Thunderbird i also occasionally, about once every month or two, log in via the Sky website on my browser to check the web based Spam folder because every so often the Sky/Yahoo server filters emails flagged as spam into the webmail spam folder and doesn't forward them on the POP3 protocol.

The advice from 'Superuser's' in this thread appears to be that if you log in via Sky.com then the email account won't be closed, but i've been doing that for 23 years and yet i still got the email warning me that it could be closed... not very reassuring.

Another confusing issue is the advice also appears to be that if you log in once a month via Sky.com then your email will be safe... yet there's a Superuser saying that once every 6 months will be sufficient.

The 6 months could be a typo?

I really think Sky need to make an official announcement to clarify what the situation is and why when so many customers clearly have an active email address they sent out the email to them.

If you use this login then your email account should be safe:

I think you could login once per 6 months to keep the account active but for me to be on the safe side it is worth doing it once per month.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I've just had this email today. I use the email account daily via Yahoo Mail, which seems to be the only way to access Sky emails.

Having to log in monthly via a weblink seems to be a bit antiquated.

Do Sky have an "offical" app that can be used?

Does anyone know how often these emails go out?

@RustySpoon there's no Sky app for access to Sky Yahoo Mail.

I don't know of any defined interval for the deletion process, but it was last carried out about a year ago, so it looks like an annual thing.

Sky email closure

Received a message to my icloud.com email address from - no reply @ email . contact . sky - (had to add spaces, too personal otherwise) informing me that my sky.com email account will be shut down due to inactivity. I use my sky email everyday. Is this a scam?

You emailed me and said you will be closing my sky email account by 04 of August but I want to keep it open.

Sky's email and their help guide (link posted in an earlier reply) are official. Beyond those, you could always call.

I've had exactly the same twice in the last 2 days and I use mine every day.

@ng2553, @Sssdgrbtbetneyb

I've added your posts to the existing thread on the subject.

The email is genuine. Just follow the instructions in the email and your Sky Yahoo Mail accounts should be safe.

Email to say I am not using my sky email and it’s going to be inactivated but I use it all the time

How do I stop it being inactivated.

Email Account might be closing

I am getting a message that my email account will close unless I use it. It is used every day so I have no idea why I am getting this message.

I have logged into my account and I still received the message.

I tried to speak to an agent on Chat - the "brilliant" virtual assistant blocked me at every request.

I am hearing impaired so try and stay away from phones but tried a number. That also didn't work.

I am not a Sky user at the moment but have been off and on for over 20 years.

Any help would be apprecisted. I really don't want to have to change my email contacts.

Thanks

Tony

@Immbez

All you need to do to keep it active is to login in here to your online email account at least once per month:

https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email/
