This is because this is a way that Sky checks that users are using the email service, as they don't/can't check if you use an app.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I contacted Sky Support on 150 and they say that Sky no longer offers support for Yahoo email accouts. The email they sent earlier today was sent to all customers and is misleading as it's headed 'Sky Broadband' and there is no mention of Yahoo anywhere.

The support person referenced an email they sent around 6 months ago warning that this change of support was forthcoming. I can neither remember such an email and  don't have it stored - and I keep everything !!

Because of this email I decided to change my password which was accepted but when I tried to use it to sign in to my email it wasn't recognised. I then  started getting DNS error messages.

I finally sorted this by going direct to the Yahoo email website and changing my email again.

In all I have spent a couple of hours today on this all due to very poor communication from Sky;  even the 'forgot password' option takes the user to a useless page of very general information.

As a Platinum customer of Sky who uses their TV, Mobile and Broadband services this is probably the worst example of  Customer Sericce that I've come across.

Have just reached out to the help team via Facebook/messenger and have received the following:

Hi Kate. Thanks for reaching out. If you have logged back in today, then your emails should not be deactivated as advised in the email. You should receive a follow-up email to confirm the account will stay active as you have logged in before 4 August. Thanks, Michelle

The adviser was wrong.

Sky does still provide support for Sky Yahoo Mail accounts. However, it'a not possible to open a new Sky Yahoo Mail account (it hasn't been possible for several years). Withdrawal of support for Sky Yahoo Mail was not mentioned in the previous deletion exercise.

I haven't received the email (yet).. It's only intended to go to those who Sky believe haven't logged in via sky.com for over a year.

Sky have a help guide here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/inactive-yahoo-mail-accounts

@Kate205

That is correct as myself and @Mark39 have been saying on here this morning. So to be clear use this link and login each month and you should never have any issues going forward:

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I too login through Sky and had this email today. This is my primary email account, so I can't lose it. I hope a Sky employee can clarify the situation.

If you're logging in via sky.com you should be ok. You could call to speak to a Sky employee, but I doubt they would tell you any differently.

SKY NOTIFICATIONS - WHATS TRUE WHAT FALSE

I have received an email from Sky stating "as I havenot used my Sky email account for some time they are closing my email account"

I do use my Sky email account but it feeds through Microsoft Outlook. What is happening is my Icloud (sky) account states it cannot syncronise folders which I am trying hard to sort out myself.

Questions:

1) How do I get in touch with the right Sky pesonnel who can help me and agree that I can keep my Sky email address.  It is not Yahoo it is Sky. (I am not sure if they are the same thing)

2) How do I get in touch with a software Sky engineer in the UK as I keep being told that Sky have passed all their support centres across to India.

I have spoken with India on several occasions regarding my over 20 years old WIFI Hub requesting a new one as it keeps breaking down.  It took me two months and 3 phone calls lasting nearly and hour each to explain the problem.

Yes I do want to keep my Sky.com email address. Yes I am trying very hard to syn my email addresses to sync into one main Microsoft Outlook Account.

Help would be great.

@Cathie3 you need to log in via sky.com here at least every 6 months: https://www.sky.com/signin/email

If you're collecting your emails from Sky Yahoo Mail via Gmail that's not a login which Sky can see, which is why you've received the email about your account being inactive.

Closing my email

I just received this email and think it's a scam as I use my Sky email frequently, any views?

Your Sky email account is closing soon

Hello,

We’ve seen you haven’t used your Sky email account in a while (this is the one that ends in ‘@sky.com’).

We’re getting in touch to let you know that unless you start using your account again, it will be deleted on 4 August. This means that after that, you won’t be able to access your account or anything in your inbox.

We’d hate for you to lose anything important, so if you want to keep using your account, all you need to do is log back in before 4 August, and it’ll stay active.

@Hellywood  Did you read the email in full, it clearly explains why.

Are you logging in via a web browser rather than an email app?

Re: Why are you closing my email account?

I only ever use the app as I don't have a computer.

I will try going through the website browser.

Thanks for your help. 👍🏻
