email account
Hello
i recieved an email on 27th june saying you were going to close my email account on the 4th of August if i didnt use the account before then. I have found this a little unnerving and I am just wondering if i have done enough for this now to happen.
This email should be linked with my Sky account but because we took out sky glass it insisted we used another email address. ( we use my husbands)
can i get some confirmation or accknolegement of my email account being safe or if it is going to close as i will need to extract all the information before then.
kind regards
Rachel

Re: email account
To keep it active all you should need to do is to login here to it:
https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email/
Feedback has been given to Sky regarding a lack of confirmation email after doing this and you are not the only person asking this question on here.

Then you shouldn't have any issues if you use this link at least once every 6 months:

'Shouldn't' isnt good enough for anyone, never mind those covered by the Equality Act (2010).

Re: email account
I've done that. I would have preferred for them to send a confermation email that everything is ok. I'm sure its an atuomated email to say that its closing. I hate to assume anything but they could have an automated email to say ive done everything nessesary to keep my account open.

You'll have to wait for Sky's definitive confirmation. See the post marked as the Answer

I agree but it is what it is and believe me feedback has been provided to Sky by us Superusers so there is little we can do.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.
The problem with this is some people, including me, received the notification that the account would be deleted after they had done this. The reason I logged in using this method was that I received an email for one of my SKY accounts saying it would be deleted so I logged in using this method and also used this method to log into my other accounts but a week after I logged in I got the email saying the accounts would be deleted. 🤔

That has been fed back to Sky.

That's great you are providing feedback. As a disabled person I have rights under the Equality Act - if @Sky remove my e-mails/prevent others from communicating with me @Sky will be in breach of the Act. As a carer I have far too many threads ongoing/online accounts etc etc to start updating accounts/persons/organisations with a replacement e-mail address. At this timestamp at least.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.
Hi all,
Given the lack of reassurance on this, and the 'may have been's and 'should not's, I'm not taking the risk.
Like others have said, I also received the warning email days after sending an email (obviously that wasnt'nt seen as it being used), so I've made a full copy of all our emails (to PC) using Thunderbird, just in case. I don't normally use it (usually just use the web version), but I had used it years ago and it came back to mind for this purpose.
I've got over 8,000 emails (thought it'd be more, to be honest) going back to 2008 — and like most here, I use it for everything. Losing access would be a nightmare to recover from.
Same for my partner. She's a carer and has medical-related emails from various sources. Trying to update all those contacts if anything went missing would be even worse for her.
I understand Sky aren't obligated to provide email forever — but being told you 'might' lose access for “lack of use” when it's used daily is ridiculous. Them not even knowing if this is legit or not is even worse.
Not knowing how long a post can be on here, I've put together a brief How-To on Pastebin for anyone who wants to do the same.
[removed]
Hope that helps somebody.
Cheers...
Stef.

Hi Everyone
Thanks for your patience whilst we worked through your reports.
We’re sorry, that a message, meant for Yahoo Mail customers who haven’t used their accounts in a while, was mistakenly sent to some active users.
If you’ve signed in to your Yahoo Mail account within the last 12 months, there's no need to worry – your account won’t be deleted. To keep your Yahoo account active, just make sure you sign in at least once a year.
I'm going to mark this post as the current answer, so that everyone has the most up-to-date information.

Well, that's a relief. I've just spent the last 10 mins trying to battle the Virtual Assistant to resolve this for me as I had received the same email on June 26th. Glad I came here to find the answer I was looking for 😁
