Thanks for letting us know. It does seem reasonable to assume that the Sky email address to which they are referring, is the one the email is sent to.

Unfortunately, other that making sure you have recently logged in via https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email there is not much more we can advise.

Re: Pending possible email suspension

They sent it to the only Sky mail account that I use and not to a recovery email at BT.

So because 1 person on that single thread says that it is an old account they think they have been notified about that they have not used in years, you ignore all the posts in here that are telling you that it is happenng to them with accounts that they use all the time?

I would beg to differ along with a lot of other concerned users by the looks of it.

I'm not disputing that there are a lot of users who have recieved the email, and don't think they should have.

I've 4 Sky email addresses, and none have recieved a deletion email, so I don't know what has singled you and the others out.

I only pointed that thread out as it shows it is possible to have an email address that you don't know about  that may have triggered the deletion email.

The biggest problem I can see is the email doesn't specify exactly what Sky email address they are refering to.

We just have to believe Sky when they say if the email account has been signed into recently, it won't be deleted.

Yeah, but this is the crux of the matter

We need to know definitively from someone at sky what has triggered these emails to be sent to regular users of email accounts.

If it is something on their end that is not showing that we are actually using the accounts, then this needs sorting asap before the 4th august.

We cant just believe because someone says so,there is obvioulsy a reason why these accounts are being flagged as not used and threatened with deletion.

If they are showing as being inactive after daily use for years of owning the accounts and being in constant use,why all of a sudden would logging in again trigger something to say that they are being used?

If there is a problem we need to know and it needs fixed.

We know that sky employees get on here as they have posted on other issues so why cant they come and give us the reason why this has happened and let us know what will trigger them to see that we are using the accounts?

We have been told that you have a voice with sky in the private forum,so please use that voice for other members and ask someone to come here and clarify if its an error,if it something that is not triggering and showing the accounts are active,if there is any way we can get proof that our accounts show active on their end?

Telling people just to "believe" and "should be ok" doesnt really inspire confidence

Thanks

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

@jayach Thank you. If you as superusers can't advise more than you have- then do you have any escalation powers to feed back via your forum the problems the emails and apparent scatter gun approach the emails sky  have sent have caused?
it appears there are some people who have accounts that are dormant , who rightly so have been notified that their accounts will be closed

however , there are more people posting the opposite - these are primary emails with years of data that is at risk of deletion , hence the strong reactions seen.

logically sky must have 'run' some reports to flag dormant accounts - this appears to be inaccurate in pulling in accounts that are active.  Someone somewhere in sky must know what communications have been sent and why - isn't that a starting point to get this resolved ?

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

I got one too and have been using my account daily - it's my main account- for over a decade. This is a huge issue for me and may block entry to other non-email e.g. PayPal accounts if I can no longer receive "confirmation emails" to prove I am who I say I am" (if my account is suddenly deleted). All my hospital and doctors (GPs), authorities etc have this email address too. People might try to contact me and I will never know. FIX THIS!

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

Thanks. I use this login portal every day but skip the invitation to setup two tier verification- too fussy. Maybe that's the issue. I hate being forced to use it but I shall set it up and see if that helps. Thanks

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

That may be a point to think about,.... I dont do the verification thingy.

What I dont get is........If I can read the email they sent me then it follows that I have logged on.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

My logic too- but they are basically strong-arming us into giving our mobile phone numbers so they can confirm its us and give us a code. I have set it up- reluctantly. Big Brother wants it.

@stepper7

You don't have to use two step verification on your online email account as it is optional. So as you have set it up make sure you keep the recovery code someone safe as this is needed should you want to turn this off and you would need to do this before changing your mobile number.

Re: Email saying account inactive and scheduled for deletion when account is used daily.

Its the only thing I can think of right now. I do not particularly want to use it- its all too fussy for me.

BUT I cannot afford to give SKY a whole day whille I try to retrieve a suddenly deleted account should it come to that. I am no longer a SKY customer but the email I believed at the time was for life and the duty of it handed over to Yahoo.

I do not want to be faced with being bounced around between SKY and Yahoo trying to resolve it- I need to know its safe today.

No, I don't think that is the problem, none of my 4 accounts use 2FA, and I've not had the email.

When you joined Sky, you were probably asked for a non-Sky email address, so that may be where they

got if from.

Have you possibly signed up to Sky more than once, and perhaps have a second account you have forgotten about?

My main Sky email account is from my home I left 14 years ago, and I signed up again at my new address

Your Sky email account is closing soon

I wonder if any of you can help me.

I received this email about my Sky account closing, however since I've left Sky many years ago at this point and this is my main email address I always made sure to qualify for keeping it.
I have been using this email address daily and I'm not too sure where I went wrong and why I've received this closing email right now. I have been logging on on my phone email app daily and mostly it's in a constantly open tab on my computer and only been logging on the PC there when it auto-logs me out and asks me to login again if that makes sense.

I think I probably used it from mail.yahoo.com but haven't had any closing emails for 5+ years like this! I got scared now and logged in to my defunct sky id account and went to mail from there and now I've seen on another thread this https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email/ and I have been logging on from here since then.

I know I probably won't receive a specific email that now my account is fine, however do you know if they would usually send a second followup notification email before they actually finally close the account?
I just want to make sure that it was effective now and my account is safe one way or another, or is there no way for that?

Thanks for all your help!

@nessa_llewellyn

As long as you login via that link then you should be fine so make sure you keep doing that whenever you want to access your emails.
