I have had this problem for a while now on my desktop and laptop and have tried all the advisories including generating an app password. Outlook working fine on my iphone. Tried deleting and re-adding the account and given I cannot even connect to the IMAP server I cannot recreate the account (outlook working fine for my MS outlook mail address).
When I try to add the account into outllook I get a failure logging onto the incoming mail server (IMAP) and a send test email message failure with the following error messages:
Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): A secure connection to the server cannot be established.
Send test email message: Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.
I am at a bit of a loss to be honest. This issue just happened out of the blue, not sure if a windows / office update may have caused it, changes on the sky / yahoo end of things or something else. I am using Outlook 365 classic and not the new outlook 365 that I believe doesnt currently support IMAP
Any assistance would be appreciated

I even deleted the account & added it again to test.
I have already added my Microsoft account so have you added this first?
Which Outlook are you using - the inbuilt Mail app, Outlook which comes with MS/Office 365 or online? If MS/Office 365 then what build/version are you running?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWhat server settings are you using, if you are able to try manualling setting your email account up using these:
Select either "Other" or "Not Yahoo" then use these settings:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server
Server - imap.tools.sky.com
Port - 993
Requires SSL - Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
Server - smtp.tools.sky.com
Port - 465
Requires SSL - Yes
Requires authentication - Yes
You will then need to generate a 16 digit password and use that instead of your usual one, you can do that here:

Hi Jayach;
Thanks for your response, have tried these settings amongst others I really don't think it's a settings issue, I'll contact Microsoft and see what they have to say

An earlier post said you are getting "Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): A secure connection to the server cannot be established".
That suggest you a using the wrong port, it should be 993, or you arn't using SSL/TLS or you have SPA set..
Do let us know how you get on with Microsoft, I'm not sure they will be able to help.

I'd suggest using Yahoo, entering your Sky account details where you should be asked to authenticate the set up by signing in via the web, once complete the account should then complete setup.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI don't believe Outlook for desktop is compatible with OAuth connections for Yahoo (and therefore Sky), even in it's latest versions.
If you have any evidence to the contarary, please share it, but even trying to seach Microsoft it seem it will need a generated password.

I was about to say that.🤣
New Outlook is a PWA (Progressive Web App) so basically Outlook on the web, packaged as an app.
@morgad1963 is refering to Outlook as provided with Office, which I don't believe can use OAuth with Sky|Yahoo, although I haven't tried the latest version.

I think you will find it's the other way round, assuming by classic you mean the version from Office.
It will work on all versions of Outlook, but some will require a generated password.
