What is Black History Month?

Black History Month is a yearly tradition, originating from the United States. It began as remembrance for people and events in the history of the African diaspora .

This year's theme for the UK is 'Sharing Journeys', where we're encouraged to explore the lives of people who arrived in Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries, who laid the foundations of today's diverse Black British Community.

How has Sky come into this?

As part of our Black History Month celebrations this month, we've curated some great shows highlighting Black creators, stars and inspiring stories all in one place. Take a look at the collection.

Access our inspiring Black History Month collection on your Sky device by saying "Black History Month", "BHM" or "Black on Screen" into your remote.

When customers call, they are placed into the call queue that now features the Sky Jukebox. We've introduced the Black History music choice, now live and already seeing the love from our customers. It's just beating RnB and Rock and sitting in 4th position out of the 6 options!
