@IM35461 You can only save the log file as a text and use a text editor etc to replace but it got through, any how you are showing a line fault and it is not going to get any better without OR taking a look see what is the issue, not sure of how or even if you have a landline connected, but if you do and it is plugged into the master socket, pretty sure you would be able to hear it is a noisy line. You have to call Sky CS and get them to do whatever is needed.... Old school telephone copper engineer is what is required to sort this!

Re: xDSL Link down, WAN link down

I just went for a cycle ride along the cable route to the green cabinet to see if any work is being done.

It looks like no one has touch the cabinets in quite a while.

@IM35461 You could have multiple joints along so unless you have Xray vision you are wasting your time!

Re: xDSL Link down, WAN link down

Indeed, just checking if OpenReach were working on another customers broadband.

My last service provider also on the last fault was not detected by their "not fit for purpose" test program but they did at least still say I could have a Openreach engineer but if no fault found I would have to pay for it.

And yes, they plugged their fancy tester into the master socket which indicated an issue x metres from the tester. They went off, fixed it and for several months it had been okay.

Sky just say "no fault found" and they don't even seem to look at the syslog.

It is like beating your head against a brick wall 🙂

Re: xDSL Link down, WAN link down

@IM35461 Do not care in the slighest what the how fast it is, the noise margin is what is important, and the electronics and software in the green cabinet does all the adjusting, SPEED is sacrificed for stability, it can put you down to 10000kb/s as a per say to get you a stable BB connection. It's the way it works has been for many many years and works well until it gets a badly connected line fault. That can even be in the home but may not apply to your connection. If you had a adsl filter spare you could even remove the master socket connect to the test socket and give it 24hrs to see how it goes, this wait 10 days and do not power off/on is just SO important on a copper line.
