so open reach are refusing to fix my broadband apprently sky cant request them to look it as my speeds are good enough , my upload speed should be 16mbs or close and my download speed should be 59mbits or more but as you can see its not , when i first joined 2 months ago my download speed was 4mbits and upload was 0.5 mbits its improved alot but the upload is still really low ,, sky have told me i can leave for free and the only way ill get better speeds is when the fit fibre to the home but that they dont know when this is to happen , i did order virgin but there customer service is that bad i cancelled the order , can anyone tell me by looking at this statstics why im not getting the speeds im supposd to be getting

59/16 is usually the national averages used in advertising for Superfast broadband rather than something promised for any particular address (although sometimes, being an average, they are coincidentally accurate). What did Sky suggest would be your Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed (which presumably is itself unreachable in practice, otherwise they wouldn't be offering to release you from contract).

4mbits down and 0,5 mbits upload is the gaurenteed speeds and thats not a typo by the way, in the past with other providers ive had well overr 59 megabits download and well over 10 upload , i was stopping at my girlfreinds for months and stopped my my broadband then we split and i came back to my flat and ordered sky and now my speeds are like this , my neghbors who use open reach lines get well over 59 megabits on theres so why is mine like this .

Your Hub is showing 40/10Mbs, which is rather better than that. Are you carrying out speed tests on a wireless device?

where are you seeing that my upload is 10 megabits ?? i see it as 3.,2 megabits , and i only do speed test on my pc witch has 1gigabit ethernet port , i only do speed tests on my pc, this poor internet is also affecting my online gaming voice chat , it lags breaks up has weird buzzing noise , yet when i use my phones mobile data to tether to my pc these voice chat issues dont exist , i just want to know what is going on im sure someone can tell me by looking at my stastics ,

40/3 would match your speed test almost perfectly: unfortunately if Sky say Openreach aren't going to do anything else and are prepared to let you end your contract, that's a bit of a dead end, as you're still well above the Universal Service Obligation for both inbound and outbound.

so theres nothing in my router stastics that can explain why my speeds are low , open reach are just bone idle for not sorting this , its the upload speed i need the most and i dont expect to get 16 but im getting five times less then there advertised upload speed , it sucks that we cant contact open reach and im going to look to see if there some regulator or something who can maybe force open reach to sort this as something clearly is wrong as in the past my line has had much better speeds , if nothing can be done then i dunno what to do,

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@02hudsond unfortunately you are stuck as Openreach own and run the network as a commercial operation. There are multiple possible reasons for why Openreach have decided they will not upgrade your line one of which is cost. Given they are switching the whole national network over from copper to fibre they are far less willing to invest in improving the copper network as its life is only a few years. However it could simply be a practical issue where for example a line runs in area where access is difficult. Openreach do not talk to end customers so you are highly unlikely to be told the details.
Ofcom who regulate the market have a government set speed of below 10Mb/s download as the threshold for the Universal Service Obligation which @TimmyBGood mentioned where Openreach are required to intervene. Your current line exceeds but that obligation has a maximum cost of £3400.
Your options are to wait for full fibre to be run - this site will give you local details if you enter your post code https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/where-when-building-ultrafast-full-fibre-broadband - or if your address is passed by Virgin Media or another network switch to them. Mobile Broadband might be an option as might a service like Starlink but both of those can be pricy.

i dont need nothing upgrading it needs repeairing as i said in prevois comments i have had much better speeds using the exact same open reach network , something somewere has caused this meaning something needs to be repaired , i get that there upgrading the network and removing copper wires thats fine but when im not given a time frame to when this happening its rather annoying, cheers for the replies anywas

i checked the link about open reach fttp and it doesnt give any dates , i did order virgin media but there customer service is shocking they are liars tried adding charges , lied about the date installation, tried to mis sell me a product when i tried to cancel the order so virgin is a no go , mobile data speed is not good in my flat on any network , yes the upload speedsare better but using mobile data for live streaming and online gaming is not reliable , im so angry about this but i understand theres nothing i can do and that openreach are just full on bone idle
