Hi All
Recent chat with Sky about our contract and plan. We are currently on Superfast broadband and have been for a couple of years. I am trying to confirm if the advisor is telling the truth or is thowing some marketing madness our way.
In a nutshell they said we were older superfast FTTC(1) with speeds:
Normal Download Speed
32.5 Mbps - 37.2 Mbps
Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed
29.9 Mb/s
They then offered FTTC(3) with speeds:
Normal Download Speed
40.8 - 45.4 Mb/s
Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed
36.7 Mb/s
I work in IT and just questionig if it's normal that Sky would have different 'tiers' of speed or even a 'new' connection type, because Fibre to the cabinet will still be going over copper from the cabinet to our house.
I cant find anything about these different 'packages' only Superfast 35, normal superfast, then ultrafast etc etc.
Does anyone happen to know if the above is accurate?
Really appreciate it
Thanks

Sky has 2 tiers of superfast
Up to 40Mbps if you guaranteed speed is <32Mbps or you're on social tariff or up to 80Mbps for others
If you enter your full postal address below and post the table after removing your address we can advise

thanks, the difference in those tier speeds doesnt really add up to what the adviser has said, but be good to confirm. Here's the results of that link:

Maximum speed is 57-59Mbps with a guarantee (handback threshold) of 30-35Mbps. So the higher tier could be a bit faster than skys estimate

Do sky advertise these 2 tiers and are these tiers different to the superfast 35 and standard superfast - I presume so.
We should be on the standard superfast package, so I see no reason why they wouldn't have provided us the fastest possible speed in our area..
